I tried to skip right to step 3. I was mid un-boxing, taking photos, and I carefully removed the keyboard from its foam wrapper and placed it in my lap. Clickity-clickity-clack... what is THAT? It's... Hmm... I guess I was hoping for a muted click, perhaps the pop of an Alps Taxi Yellow without the pandemonium. But this is... familiar? It was jarring, not nice at all. Typing felt like hundreds of tiny sucker punches, but what does that even mean? What devils possess these switches?
I grabbed a quiet click switch from my 5pc bag to investigate: this switch has a rub at the top, and another rub at the very bottom. That's it! This thing is everything you love or hate about Cherry MX brown, but... TWICE! Call it the Matias double rub, or the maybe the ol' rub and scratch. Whatever it is it's there. Two times.
So I aborted the un-boxing, looked up the RMA steps, shipping costs, and restocking fees for MK.com and here I am... curious whether the KBP V80 with Matias Clicky switches could be my spirit animal.
