I got one of the donor Cherry MY7000 boards. Most of the caps are not too shiny, but some on the number pad sure are!

Tried typing on it, just curious to see what it felt like. Oh... my... gosh. I think I'm echoing another poster here when I say that my fingers recoiled in horror at the feel of this keyboard!

Stripped the keys for a dental tab bath, hurriedly rushed the stripped unit out to the garage so it doesn't impart any of it's eldritch Cthulhian miasma to the other keyboards.

hmm... this board does looked better in real than i'd expected...
without the logo, i might have mistaken it for a Filco...

the esc + wasd + arrow clusters colors are nice too, i like flat colors!

Yes.

The dismay stems from the fact that in the Vortex group buy, all the sets I've seen so far have pretty warped bars (dyesub PBT caps, same font... had to be done at the same place.)

My theory is that since the boxed set had to be packaged professionally and you know, actually quality-controlled, they took their time with it, and left the keys in the mold to cool off, thus preventing the warpage.

I think the group buy sets were just cheaply pumped out and thrown into bags while still hot or something... and that's how they all got warped.

Yes, they're all 7x space bars. The top one matches the dolch set (and imsto gray dye subs) pretty nicely.
