Ducky Shine II - Double PCB?

Hello I read that Ducky Shine II will have double PCB.  Did I missed something?  I thought plate mount is the most sturdy compare to PCB mount?  Or does the double PCB implies something else?

Anyone know?

I was told a few months ago the new Shines would indeed be double pcb.

Not sure about 'sturdy' factor but I know double pcb is typically utilized for mid range to high end backlit boards. So it could be related to the LEDs more than anything else.

Typically, the easy way to tell is the color. Red = double pcb Green = single

Oh I found the answer here, apparently Filco Majestouch-2 also employs double PCB.  I guess I got the wrong impression initially, I thought they replace the plate with double PCB.  In fact they gonna have the plate AND double PCB.  I think something to do with a better typing feel and maybe better electrical?

It's not double PCB it's dual layer PCB.  Copper traces can be found on both sides of the 1 PCB that has the switches mounted to it.

On the other hand the Filco 87's at least do have 2 PCBs, the 2nd one being really small and having the controller logic mounted to it.

It's not really that much better. They're more expensive to make, and don't require as many jumpers. It should also weigh slightly more.

If this were something really critical and precise, it'd have a real impact. For example large gates on transistors will help prevent them from being flipped by cosmic rays.

It's just marketing. I wouldn't let it deter me from buying one, and I wouldn't consider it a real benefit.

Now we should discuss about 90-degree bends in the traces, and whether or not that'll have any effect, either.
