Not yet, but if you push the broken stem down into the slider (going to suck getting that out) and then push the rest of it in on top of it, it all holds in place pretty well. I might just leave it at that, as I'm afraid of doing anything else that could potentially damage the integrity of the stem/cap. This will probably be the only tri that I ever own, so I don't want to make him dead.

Yeah, I think I just got really lucky with the right place/right time sort of thing. I made, what I felt, was a joke offer (given what people normally offer for these) shortly after moose posted, and surprisingly he accepted. Yeah, it's a broken jack, but it's still a jack (maybe not to collectors, idk), so given the alternative of paying market price (no thanks), I'm really happy with how things turned out.

Damn, had to send this nice cap back to its owner since my package was delivered opened and a Mint Gum WASD set is now forever lost in the mail. I hate myself for not double taping everything. ****!

Man, that's not even funny. I'd be devastated if I lost something that valuable in the mail during a trade.

Terrible, yes... Lightsource is the power button of my PC, a Lian Li case :) It is a weird setup, I cutout a hole in a black paper, and then put the Ogre Clack in between the hole, that only the light comes through and all around is nice black. Here is the plan of this evil photo session, my skills are way worse than yours!

I will post some more pictures as soon as the cap arrived again at its owner, since the color of this Ogre is very special and I have not seen any pictures of it here!

simple jack is turning out to be a bit of an *******

had the stem re-attached and tested a good 20 or so times, then was gradually cleaning it up (had reinforced the middle of the stem with epoxy, but that was causing issues with alignment) and testing it. after the finishing touches i put it on a real board, confident it would work, and boom- back to step 0.

going to have to kill another slider to get the stem out :( whole process is all new to me, so good learning experience, just time-consuming and a bit frustrating.

think i'm going to have to sand the contact points of the broken stem because the epoxy is coming off clean, making it seem like it's not really bonding with the clack. i figure some sanding, a good foundation, and then do a better job of reinforcing the inside of the stem so that it doesn't interfere with the stem guides in the slider is the best chance i have at a solid hold. will spam thread with my "progress" again in a few days.

until then, the taunt is real

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My brother let me borrow one of his :) (potato pic)

Bad situation.
