It's probably designed for/only usable as a controller for graphics software.
So were the Spacetec products that weren't the SpaceBall Avenger or SpaceOrb 360, as well as everything 3Dconnexion. Guess what GlovePIE does for them?
It passes off their inputs to PPJoy's virtual joystick driver, proper analog support and all, and the scripting capabilities are fairly robust, allowing me to do some crazy things with those inputs if I wanted to. Problem solved.
Of course, that all depends on whether or not such utilities bother supporting that Axsotic trackball in the first place.
