Batmann is too new to run a buy, in any case.  No offense to you personally Bat.

He can certainly do a lot of the interest check type stuff like designing the keys and gathering interested parties, but when it comes down to the money collection, sorting, and distribution, we need someone more established.
Which is why I am getting assistance from i3oilermaker on this GB...

Way to make me feel out of place Batmann :(   I'm just trying to organize your ideas in a way that make it easier to manage.  No need to get all defensive, we are both trying to achieve the same goal here.  Again, like I said, all I'm doing is managing the thread.  So here's what I'm going to do:

- Batmann will have the final say on the design.  His design will trump all other designs. (So make it good, man! :P )
- i3oilermaker will handle the manufacturing / money collection / shipping for this GB.
- I will manage this thread and will see to it that everyone who wants one of these sets will get one.

I think that sounds fair for everyone, don't you think?  Feedback on this please...

That sounds perfectly fair to me.

However if i3oilermaker runs it we know it'll all run smooth and if he is fronting some cash then it will get started sooner and everyone has meth on their keyboards sooner rather than later.

I like the sound of that xD

I'll wait to hear back from Batmann on this.  If he still feels he should be more involved with this then I'll try my best to meet his accommodations.

That is very fair mate  ;D
I still have inquiries ongoing with SP and QWERKeys
Let me finish this, once it's done I'll pass it on to i3oilermaker for the financial/shipping/order part and you do the managing task
Although I'm disappointed I won't be able to pay a trip to Amsterdam with that GB monney!  :p
I may have sounded a bit rude, didn't mean to

Really looking forward to see how these translucent blues turn out!

Wonder if they'll look anything like the ice blue CC on DanGWang's blog.

That is almost the exact color we need.  Hopefully SP or QWERKeys can make them like that for us... (I think i3 said SP can do it?)

Yes, but it may be a week or so until we can see a sample.

And nothing in this universe will look as good as that CC

A week?  Oh well, that's not too bad really... sounds like a reasonable waiting period.

And of course, nothing compares to a CC.  NOTHING.

Oh and I had an odd thought for an additional key.  Ge.  For GeekHack.  And germanium.  But mainly to do like they do on the show and use elements for the casts' names as well as the title.

We are connected bro
I was thinking of a GH key with the kind of polygon that represents a molecule with a G and H attached to it, that could very well be a G and e instead, I'll show you some design soon
edit: re-reading this I'm actually not sure I fully understand your idea, can you detail it, i'll give it a try tomorrow on illustrator

I have a feeling they will resemble these caps:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KBC-ABS-Semi-Clear-104-Keyset-Cherry-MX-Key-Caps-Filco-Ducky-Leopold-etc-/330753327381?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item4d026f4115

But we shall see...
That will probably be something like that, it could look pretty good for this set if they can do it in light blue although there's no chance at all these will look like CC caps... this clear caps will be cheap (around 0.63 dollars a key at this point of the IC)

It's too bad the legends can't be that precise... you could do something like with the title in |Br]eaking [Ba]d and do [Ge]ek [H]ack... using germanium and hydrogen, respectively.

edit. assuming SP doubleshots can't be that precise, please correct me and say I'm wrong, because I want that key. :P

edit #2. other thought... get a Ge and H key with the atomic number made.

I think B series from QWERKeys are less restrictive than double shot. You would have a sort of double shot green on black and an engraved white print on the green part. I need to check with them how crazy we can go on the details.
Your ideas are very welcome, I'll try some designs tomorrow.

here is a more realistic update of what B series would possibly look like

there is no doubt this keycaps will be yours seeing the number of people already interested.
I hope SP will be able to  give me a picture of the clear caps they are working on next week (it might not be the exact colour but this will give us an idea of the possible outcome)

What do you guys think of this GeekHack cap?

I don't know yet if such design is possible, I'll check with QWERKeys later on

My two cents:

I think for these keys SP should be the manufacturer.  First off they can do the clear blue key. Second doubleshots provide a much clearer and consistent look than ingrave/infill.  Finally, the price of SP double shots will be half (or less) than qwer keys.  We might not have the white border, but the key will look sharp as hell.

I like the GH molecule idea but that is too much detail for SP Doubleshot or qwer IMO
