Diamond Key cap for proposal

So i'm looking to propose to my girlfriend on the 21st of October on our anniversary and I'm going to make a custom makeshift ring that has a Cherry MX switch. Does anybody know if there's a clear diamond piece that will fit an MX switch or a keycap with a diamond on it?
I'm not trying to be cheap, i'm still willing to buy her a ring later on that she can pick out herself, but I want to craft something for her since she's always making small crafts for me.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Great idea! I did something similar when I proposed. Bought the most giant fake plastic POS ring and tied it to the end of her fishing line (fishing is her fav thing to do in the world) while she was off hiking up stream to find a diff spot. She came back, reeled her line in, and boom! There it was.

It is also much nicer to go pick out the real ring WITH your loved one. It was a nice experience to go through the process with my wife and get her EXACTLY what she wanted.

I'd like to offer some advice.  If at all possible, have the ring for the proposal.  Girls have been programmed their whole lives by bad movies, and they want that f***ing rock.

Thanks for the input guys. My girlfriend isn't the girly girl type (but she has her moments) and I totally understand the "need a rock" mentality. I'll have to look at the local jewelry stores to see if I can find a ring with a rock I can afford at the moment.

As for the Cherry MX ring, if it comes down to it I'll have to find some clear substance that I can shape into a diamond or use a mold.

Thats pretty cute. If I may, I dont think you need to worry about "having to have a rock". I think she's going to be over the moon about marrying you, diamond or not. When I got married, we both got plain gold bands with an engraving and I was happy with that. Our jeweler told us though that some girls go in there and they're a nightmare, practically asking for your entire life savings. Your girlfriend sounds sweet and down to earth though, so I think shes really going to find it cute what you're doing. And ofc later you can have her pick out the 'serious' ring, but I dont think shes going to be pissed if its not there during the proposal.

I'm not sure what substance you'd use to shape the diamond, but I would suggest checking etsy for candy molds that are gem-shaped. These are usually made from silicon and come with a lot of different 'cuts' and sizes.

Speaking of candy...trying a ring pop might be good too, just make sure its one piece before proposing

You could go out and buy a cheap piece of jewelry with a large piece of Cubic Zirconium (i.e. "fake" diamond), and try to embed that into a keycap. One option may be to spray a keycap in silver or gold auto paint and then find a way to perhaps inlay the CZ into the centre of the cap. Not sure if that fits the bill, but it's an idea.
