This interest check is for a service that will be put on by me (Prof) and MiMiC if interest is great enough. The services offered will be plain assembly, modded switches (ergo clears, getto greens, etc), lubing and stickering. We will also be doing a groupbuy for certain parts for our customers to get better bulk pricing and so there is less intermediate shipping. Things offered might be diodes, resistors, leds, switches, stabilzers, cases, plates, and cables, this all depends on interest.

Nice one, be sure to use SMD diodes and invest in a cable bender like litster used for the 7 unit space bars. Will you offer a cherry or costar stabiliser option?

I loved assembling mine, but if you haven't got the stuff having it done for you is great.

This time round with the phantom it would be good to see the plate designed to be integrated with a case, like the Korean's do.

Is it possible for me to get equipments only? I would really rather assemble them myself, but finding everything else other than the pcb might be a hassle. Thanks.

Nice of you to offer this. Phantoms are kind of a ***** to build. The diodes are very tedious to place and solder, and the Teensy is very tricky to get done right. I've yet to mod my switches, i.e. lubing and stickering, but I'm sure that will be quite a chore, as well. Mounting the switches to the plate and soldering those to the PCB is a relaxing breeze compared to the rest.

+1 and I've only been doing one Kmac. I wouldn't do it for money. Just so bloody tedious.

I would probably be interested in this because soldering diodes is difficult right? That and I can be lazy, and after my full ergo clear mod to my FC700R that took probably 4 hours total I really appreciate the work involved in offering a service like this.

I loved assembling mine, but if you haven't got the stuff having it done for you is great.

This time round with the phantom it would be good to see the plate designed to be integrated with a case, like the Korean's do.

Did anyone ever do SMD diodes on a Phantom as I have not heard of anyone doing that. I will be using Cherry Stabilizers preferably and once I find a place that sells plate mount as I have only found PCB mount. yes I would like to see a nice custom case but i dont know if that actually going to happen this time around though I would think it wouuld for the Phantom v2 if that ever happens.

I dont plan to run a GB for all of the parts separately as the sorting for the amount of people expected to be in the GB would be a very large amount and ive only hear horror stories from the last GB. Also everything should be readily available ill just be buying in larger quantities hopfully.

Thanks for then props guys. Once you know how to do most of this stuff it really isnt all that hard (personal feeling) but it is mighty tedious and takes a fair bit of time especially when done right.

One of the large problems with sorting components for the previous group buys was that we got the diodes in bulk (loose one by one) rather than on tape. With tape it is pretty quick to just measure out the correct amount with a ruler and cut. Since diodes are very very cheap when bought in quantities my suggestion would be that they are included in the PCB group buy. Other than diodes only switches and a Teensy is needed. And a few resistors and LEDs, but since people are going to want different colors and with that different resistors, this would be a chore to include.

Tempted to go for it myself but can't decide yet, but as others have said I am definitely down for making up the numbers in bulk purchasing! Slightly off topic, but do we need the Teensy 2 or the 2 with pins?

Just don't put that switch in when you build it.
