Hello Fairly Recent Mechanical KB addict
« on: Thu, 27 December 2012, 19:44:52 »
Hi guys,

I registered on this forum earlier this month, but I thought I'd introduce myself here since I didn't before. I'm missalaire and I've somewhat recently become interested in and addicted to mechanical keyboards.

I've always been mainly a PC gamer and I play mostly MMOs and League of Legends.

I got my first mechanical keyboard back in October (Ducky Shine II with blue LEDs and Cherry Blacks), upgrading from a Logitech G15 V1. I still miss the LCD screen sometimes, but I'm loving the feeling of mechanical switches too much to ever go back.

I've got two more mechanical keyboards on the way: Filco Majestouch 2 with Cherry Browns (a Christmas gift from my bf) and Cooler Master QuickFire TK with Cherry Blues (something I bought for myself because I knew I had to have one ever since I fell in love with the clicky feeling of blues when I tried a QFR at a Fry's).

Looking forward to learning more about mechanical keyboards, possibly participating in some group guys, and customizing my keyboards :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

It will be interesting to see what you think of the blacks after you have used the browns and/or blues for a while.

There are some interesting GBs for keycaps starting up around now - you have joined at an opportune time :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

i've played a fair amount of league of legends and also been banned from the game at least five times using my filco with mx browns!

kids don't like to be told exactly why they're wrong to harass and abuse people on a video game, i guess.  TRUTHCRIME!

I should be getting my QuickFire TK either today or tomorrow at the latest. I'll post once I've had at least a week with it. My Filco won't be coming in for a little while though (scheduled delivery 1/8) since it's shipping from Canada apparently on a moose. Can't wait to get them both and use them :)

Lol nice. I've never been banned in my nearly 2 years of playing LoL. I try to ignore and zone people like that out, they're just not worth it. The tribunal isn't exactly the best system, but toxic players like that have probably been tribunal'd before so if you just report them, they're likely to get tribunal'd again and probably banned.

You leave our moose shipping system out of this!
Now yes, it may be slow. BUT! The rich pride and heritage that goes with it!
Thank you from Canada.
Welcome to the hack!

Oh, and fiddlesticks is pretty much the only champ I play. I even bought his dark candy cane looking outfit this Xmas.

I too went from a G15 to a mechanical, and never went back.  Personally, I think you'll love the browns.

Welcome.
