Buying from PChome
« on: Fri, 08 February 2013, 20:33:54 »
I've been looking for the best place to buy a fullsized Ducky shine 2 with red switches and white backlight, plus the leather wristrest they make. After some research it seemed like PChome would be the best choice, but they didn't have a listing for that specific config on the global site, checked the Taiwan site and found it there. http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/DCAH0X-A68427076 Here is the keyboard and the wristrest. http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DCAH0X-A50322882&SR_NO=DCAH0X.

So my questions are, am I right about the global site not having a full/red/white, and is the one I linked indeed that config? Is that wristrest the full or tenkeyless version? Seems to be the only wristrest listing on both sites. Lastly, I shouldn't run into any problems ordering from the Taiwan site instead of the global one, right? Thank you for any help, I've been reading threads from here for the last few weeks. :thumbsup

I think I ordered my first Ducky through their .tw site, using a walkthrough and agressive use of Chrome with its in-text translation.  It's still something to see an invoice for a keyboard costing in excess of $1000.

I just made my first order (Shine 2) from their global sight and it arrived at New York last night.  Sadly I think the snow may push the shipping back a little longer.  It also took them a couple days to "verify information with my bank" before they processed the order.  I'm guessing that's half common for international orders.

Any reason you would order from there instead of mechanicalkeyboards.com? They have the board you are looking for and a fullsize black wrist rest.

Could you point me to the walkthrough? I've read that there was one on this site but I can't find it.

Mechanicalkeyboards and Tigerimports have a $30 shipping fee  + whatever customs decides to charge, living in Canada sucks for these kind of things.

I just noticed that the Taiwan site also says shipping to Canada $10 at the top, so I think I should be fine. Just need to make sure the wristrest is the fullsized one. A Taiwanese user that was helping me out over at OCN confirmed for me that the keyboard is indeed the one I want, plus the chrome translation is, "Shine2 red axis white" so I think I'm good on that end. I'm considering forgetting about the wristrest for now, I don't know. I can't find any contact page on the site, is there actually an email I can message?

I'm not sure where it is anymore.  A lot of the images got lost when the site got Rootwormed.

Why don't you access the Global / English site? Same thing isn't it?

So I mean be wrong, but it doesn't look like the .tw site ships to other countries. From what I can tell (fumbling around with Chromes translator), they only accept Taiwanese credit cards and there is no option to ship anywhere but Taiwan. I'm hoping I'm wrong, and in the mean time I'm debating getting a tenkeyless cherry red/white backlight since they have that on the global site. There's also a cherry brown/white backlight/full size on the global site, but I don't know, I was pretty set on the red switch.

What's the difference?

My package shipped from :

No. 386, Sec. 1, Minsheng N. Rd,. Guishan Township, Taoyuan County 333, Taiwan (R.O.C), i don't think they ship from different warehouses?

There shouldn't be a difference, but the global site doesn't have a listing for the keyboard I want. I mentioned this in my OP.

I'm considering ordering from vendio.com now, the owner seems to have a good reputation on here. The keyboard is $20 more, and it's $24 shipping though so it ends up being ~$34 more than PChome. My main concern is duties charges, which I can still avoid ordering from vendio. He has the wristrest too, but it tacks on another $12 shipping...

I don't know, maybe next time PChome updates their stock or something they'll put it up.

So I realized they have a email for problems involving the website and sent them an email there since there is virtually no other contact information. I guess this could be considered a problem with the sites anyway. I don't really expect a response, but who knows.

Edit: It came up on the global site today, ordered, got a shipment delay notice, "pending verification". Hope there aren't any problems, verification delays are normal anyway.

Edit 2: Forgot to update, but it ended up confirming the order on the 1st and also shipping that day. So yeah, in case someone else runs into this problem and find this thread on google. Report it as a problem with the site, and just wait for the listing to come up on the global site. It occurred to me that it might've gone so long without the listing because of the Chinese New Year lol.
