Invoice received and paid!

Thanks iMav, you have been very helpful!

nice, I just paid.
now I need some cherry plate stabilizers and leds.

Let me know if you find any better prices than what is on wasdkeyboards :) Know the specs on the leds?

WASDkeyboards only have costar stabilizers, and for the leds i hoped to get the information here :)

Will costar not fit, or is that just a preference? I thought I read they will fit somewhere.

From the pictures I've seen I think these plates only support PCB mount cherry stabilizers. NOT costar or plate mount cherrys.

They are for Cherry plate-mount stabilizers.  I believe the plate is steel, FWIW.

I think you were referring to the poker plates for sale here?

Based on these two quotes, can we get confirmation on which stabs we need? Thanks!

One could have a plate made that would hold Costar plate-mounted stabilizers for you.  The Costar design does not depend on the PCB in any meaningful way.  The Cherry stabilizers are a different story.  The PCB-mount version won't work with a plate, but the plate-mount version will work with or without a plate.

This plate does not have the holes needed to mount Costar stabilizers.

PCB mounts work with a plate. The plates I made for the poker last November allowed you to use PCB mount stabilizers with a plate.

...but will they work with the Vortex plate from this GB?

It says T-1 3mm leds will work. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, they are 3mm LEDs.  The resistors on the PCB are setup for typical blue LEDs.  I have installed white LEDs that have a slightly lower Vf with some success.  I ended up adding a parallel resistor for the Nav key indicators, since there are 4 of them and they ended up dimmer than I liked.  If you go with another color, you may have to tweak the chip resistors accordingly.  There are 3 of them, IIRC.  That said, Vortex is not driving the stock blue LEDs at full power, so they may work OK for other LEDs with lower Vf for a given current.

Perfect! Thank you for all the info. I'll probably end up getting blues and some other color just in case I can't get the brightness just right.

Would it be possible to add a dimmer to these leds? Or are they way too interconnected to the pcb and its electronics?

If you are comfortable working with SMD components, you can do whatever you like.  I suppose if you wanted full control, you could remove the series resistors and build a separate circuit to control the LED brightness using the raw 5V from the USB cable.  The controller on the PCB doesn't provide any means to change how it drives the LEDs, if that is what you are asking.

I was just thinking of adding a dumb pot to control the brightness, but now you got me thinking that I want Ctrl+Fn+{up,down} to control the brightness. I could just add my own control like you said off of the usb too (I'll probably do this).

Maybe I'll just wait for a GH60...

Ah ok. I can ask this over on the GH60 boards, but will the GH60's ATMega have any leftover gpio?

Poker plates going fast!  Didn't realize how fast.  I have 5 left (but still have LOTS of Poker PCBs left).

4 NIB RACE keyboards left (1 MX-Blue and 3 MX-Red).

Please EMAIL me (as per the first post), if interested.  don't PM!

How much would shipping for 1 x Plate + 1 x PCB be to Australia?
If it's around ~$10 or so, I would like some please =D

From what I have seen, iMav always uses USPS Medium Flat Rate Box for shipping these. That would be like $40 to Oz.

Yep.  I've resigned myself to using USPS exclusively...it's the only thing I have time for.  (they provide the boxes and are only a couple blocks away)
