WTB Cyborg R.A.T mouse
« on: Tue, 12 March 2013, 22:15:27 »
Long shot I know, but looking for the Cyborg R.A.T 7 mouse contagion preferably. Depending on price, may go for another R.A.T as well.
Always wanted to try one out, and kind of going on a mouse binge. Don't really feel like spending too much on one, and prefer used in good shape.

Hook me up with a pm if you can help me out!

I have a RAT 7 I want to get rid of (I have too many mice right now  ;D )
What are you looking on spending on one?

How used would you say it is? Any pictures?

As for how much I'm looking to spend....well the white one I would really like is $86 on amazon. Ideally I don't think I'd want to pay over $50 for one that isn't the contagion style.

I have only used it for about 5 or 6 hours, as I prefer my sensei. I only have the regular black one. I can post pictures after I get out of class here in an hour or so

My current mouse is a sensei, and I have a few other sensei on the way. When you take pics, maybe you can quickly describe why you like the sensei more?

Ahh, the clickyness. Lol.

Anyways below are the photos. The reason I prefer my sensei is purely habit. I started on a deathadder, and tried to get used to the heavier feel of the RAT, but it just didnt come naturally to me. On the opposite end
a friend of mine loves the RAT vs his deathadder, so that is why it is mostly preference.

On a side note, I am currently at college and do not have the little box of different side attachments with me. I am going home next week and will be able to get them then, but at the moment I only have the setup in the picture. All the weights are in the box at home as well (the mouse felt heavy to me, so I took all the removable weights out).

Mmmmm it looks good, but I just dunno if I can pull the trigger on one that's not white/blue! I'll have to think about it, and let you know by the weekend, before you go home.

I think the 9 is a bit out of my price range, even with trades. If it's not white/blue, it gotta be on the cheap.

Never liked the RATs. The sensors were awful on my Goliathus Control mousepad. I'd honestly look into a Death Adder, G400, Zowie AM or Zowie etc 1/2 eVo.

I've actually been having issues with my razer mouse pad, dust loves it. So I have 4 kinds of artisan pads in the mail. I'm sure between them any sensor is fine.

As for death adder, I can't stand the feel of any razer mouse. Only Logitech I want is a G9x. And Zowie look identical to my sensei.

The only only mouse I'd really like to try is a Mionix Naos 8200. Apart from a R.A.T that is.

You don't have to get that many Hein pads. I've got a Hein Mid Large. It really works well with optical sensors. I'm not sure what you're looking for but if you're looking for a serious gaming mouse I'd really steer away from a G9x or a RAT. The sensors are really trash but, again, it's your preference.

The Zowie's (AM, ec1 eVo, and ec2 eVo) all have very different shapes and hand feel so I don't know how that could look exactly like your sensei. The guts are essentially the same and of all the mice I've tried it has the best response. I also really love that the drivers are built into the mouse so you don't have to use any crappy programs and worry about the interfering with the way that mouse functions. Greater dpi != better mouse.

Oh to add. The sensor matters a lot, regardless of mousepad. If it has acceleration and prediction then your aim isn't going to be true to what your hand does and messes with muscle memory.

I didn't just get Hien, 4 different styles to see which I like best.
I just looked at two Zowies and they looked similar to a sensei, didn't look at the whole range.
Hmmm sensor that bad on those two....well maybe I'll just ignore the G9x. But the R.A.T I still may try, depends on if I can get a cheap one used.

Don't mean to turn this thread into a discussion, but I do enjoy the advice!

It's all good. My experience with RAT was the damn mouse would jitter all the time on a cloth pad. Drove me nuts and made playing games impossible. I think it will work okay on harder, white surfaces.

I'm getting a shiden from artisan. Not hard like a plastic surface, but sounds promising.
And I've had jitter with my sensei from dust build up. Hate it with a passion. So if a mouse has any jitter on a new clean pad, no way.

From what I could tell, it doesn't like black textured mouse pads. When I used a white piece of printer paper it was fine but not a suitable alternative.

Maybe it's more suited to the average person who will use a mouse on just about anything. They did just make the new M.O.U.S which seems strictly catered to casual users now.

I read posts on other forums about people getting the same issue so I returned it. It's a nice mouse but if you're really into gaming, there are better ones out there.

I have two at home, need to RMA them though if that helps.  (They aren't white though)  One is compatible with Mac and has 6400dpi and the other is the regular 5600dpi version.  I also live in the GTA but I'd have to wait for the RMA to get back.  Wish I had RMA'd them sooner.  :(

I've gotten a few offers, one white one I really like, but that is so new I probably can't afford it. Basically at this point, going for the best deal I can find, and one that is RMA'd would be brand new and I doubt you want to sell if supppper cheap! But if you do, shoot me a pm!

I've had them for a while, I'm willing to sell for a cheap price.  Just want some money for a Sensei or something of the sort, the R.A.T. is better suited for FPS and I don't play that many anymore.  Anyways, I'll be sending out an RMA tomorrow and I'll see what I can do.

G9/G9x guy here. I have a RAT7 infection. Bought it in an attempt to change from claw grip to palming for fps/work. I ended up with a hybrid finger grip... Anyway I have it and I'd totally be willing to get rid of it if it wasn't for that handy dandy sniper button. Hate the mouse otherwise. I caved and let my job buy me an MX performance, and I haven't come close to switching from it, despite wireless. No wrist/palm pain for fps or D3, no lag, feature filled, and reliable. The Rat7's got that Philips twin eye sensor that renders either the x or y axis useless until the mouse is lifted and placed back down, and it happened to me about once a day. The sniper button is a feature I miss, but that's about it for me.
Senseis are cool, but I kept going back to the G9. Are you looking for a Rat7 for fps?
TL;DR
I second the rat7's faulty sensor, and am happy with the performance mx after finally switching from a g9.
