Looking to buy a tkl board
« on: Sat, 23 March 2013, 12:55:27 »
Hi guys, first time posting here!

I've been using a Das Keyboard Ultimate, with MX blues, for around 7 or 8 months now, and am looking into getting a new board that is tkl. I type in the Dvorak layout, and really would like either blank keycays stock, or the availibility to purchase blank keycaps. I'm not a huge fan of backlit, as it would have no real effect on me, with the blank keycaps, but have no problem buying a keyboard with backlighting.

I'm considering switching to MX reds, as I play a lot of dota 2 and starcraft.

Some options would be awesome, I have been looking at leopold, also the pure or poker.

Thanks guys!

The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

pcb-mounted. where switches are attached to a printed circuit board and can be opened without desoldering them.

I think I might be looking at the leopold, but would prefer if i could get it in beige/white, rather than black.  Also, where could I find replacement keys, in a variety of colours? Would they fit on the board fine?

With the Filco, is the USB cable removable?

Thanks again!

If you're desperately in need of new keycaps, try out WASD's (modify yourself) otherwise take throw a thread on the forum, loads of nice keycaps!

The Filco does not have a detachable USB cable.

the filco cable is removable inside the case, but not from the outside. so if you want to install a custom cable you can but you cant just unplug it whenever you please.

What about a kbt poker or pure?

Would those be a decent option for gaming/typing? It seems like they have a lot of following with many of the people here...

Thanks!

What about this?

https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=185

I'd also be able to order a set of blank pbt keycaps. (probably white)

With a poker, are regular sets of keycaps compatible?

Thanks!

You don't need a linear switch for starcraft and dota 2, you can use whatever switch you want. The linear switch thing is just for games where you move around w/ wasd or need to double tap. Even MLG starcraft players just choose whatever switch they think feels best to them.

Think I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a HHKB2, once I attain the proper funds.

We shall see how that goes!
