Sculpin is one of my favorites, but this is my first try of the pineapple variety. I like it! They don't assault you with the pineapple flavor so it works.

Really? Everytime I've had a sculpin with fruit I've found it really unpleasant. Could be that shipping to Canada is not good for it.

I live in SoCal and I feel the same way, so it's not the shipping, IMO.

I've had the regular sculpin and the sculpin grapefruit IPA and the grapefruit was terrible. I'm actually kind of relieved that it's not the shipping.

Just opened a Goose Island Bourbon County 2015.   Super tasty.  I get chocolate, bourbon (obviously), dark fruit like prunes or dried cherries, vanilla, subtle smoke, and caramel malts.  There is some booze heat, but it's balanced and not overpowering.  In short, ****ing delicious and not at all a letdown like Founders KBS was the last time I tried it.

Perfect way to end the night after a completely middling Gigantic Hearts and Stars and a small can of Saint Archer Raspberry Gose that smelled like a combination of fireworks and ass and was mediocre tasting.

I'm really interested to find out how that Gigantic tastes.

Of that group, I would only recommend the Flamenco Roja, Grimm Future Perfect, and Draai Laag Cru.  The Gigantic was okay, but nothing fantastic.  It was way too malty and sweet for an IPA, in my opinion.  I love Toolbox, but the Purple Drink did not impress me.  The Funner IPA was more like a mildly hopped pilsner.

That is a bit disappointing to hear. I haven't seen of the beers other than the Gigantic  at my local stores. I'll keep my eye open for them though.

Is there any way to get beer in the mail? Is it even safe?
That seems like it would be only way I'd be able to get more of my beloved Red Stripe.

It's very common around here, they sell it at gas stations along side Budweiser and Coors. What country do you live in?

Humorously I just got back from Jamaica* and drank entirely too much draft Red Stripe during my stay -- so I am clearly an expert ;).

Like many tropical breweries they definitely rely on adjuncts as barley and wheat aren't grown on the island. So its closest flavor profile is definitely a Macro like Bud or Coors, but like Corona or Guiness there's that extra tang to it.

Definitely not my personal favorite but I can see why people would prefer it to a US Macro. When I had a layover in Charlotte I made sure to down a few pints of local NC beer :)

I live in Denmark. In the middle of nowhere. I still haven't found a place that sells it around here.
There was one place that sold 'em but they stopped and that was several years ago.

It looks like this place is a solid bottleshop that mails in DenmarkThere are some others listed here.

I say the shop looks solid based on some of the US beers I've had that they carry.  They have Clown Shoes, this solid decent Almanac Gose, The Bruery, Dogfish Head, Evil Twin, Founders (including KBS in stock), High Water Brewing, Jester King, Jolly Pumpkin (not huge on them, but others are), Mikeller, Lagunitas, Lost Abbey, Mystic, Perennial, Prairie, Pretty Things (R.I.P.), and TO ØL.  A lot of good **** there.  Definitely a place you should check out.

Edit:  I should say, they have other beers than US on that list I've had, but most are US breweries.

Tonight's entertainment:

Maritime Pacific Flagship Red Ale - I didn't care for this overtly malty red ale with the aftertaste of sweaty armpit
Silver city Brewery Ziggy Zoggy Summer Lager - I was pleasantly surprised by this very approachable yet complex beer with nice citris flavor and a bit heavier on the hops than most lagers.
Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale - This has become one of my all-time favorite beers. It's ambrosia, necter of the gods, ichor. It hits every note perfectly, not too much and certainly not too little yet still wildly different. ****ing love this beer. Get it. Drink it.

Wheat and Hefe's are good, but I really need to be in the mood for them. They are generally lower in APV% as well, which I still have a bad habit from my younger days of dismissing anything under 5.9%

After being out of the loop for a while with beer - picked up a mix 6 pack of some Lagers, Pilsners and Wheat Ales.  I will definitely be on the lookout for sours - though I have had lambics on several occasions.

I don't know how you guys feel about it, but has anyone tried the Not Your Father's Root Beer?

Yes, I think its pretty great (although I think coney island root beer is better) Really good with a nice scoop of ice cream.

I also love their ginger ale, incredibly refreshing.

Last night I had two beers from Funky Buddha.

The first was called "Sticky Treats" which is a blonde ale that tastes like a rice crispy treat, sort of. It was more like the marshmallow flavor of lucky charms or other cheap cereal marshmallows. Overall it was pretty good and easy to drink at 5.1% ABV, the wife liked it too and drank half the bottle actually.

The second was called "3 Years & Brewing Anniversary IPA" which consisted of moasic and vic secret hops, mango, and Champagne yeast. This had a great tropical and floral aroma and a decent sweetness that went well with the touch of Mango. My wife didn't like it because it was "too much like flowers", but she doesn't normally like hoppy beers.

They were both pretty good but I keep finding that these seasonal and rare releases from Funky Buddha are more like "alcopop" or soda flavored beers. Jones soda and their crazy flavors are neat, but I'm not sure something like that belongs in the brewing world. Maybe it all started with the popularity of pumpkin beers. One home brewer on /r/homebrewing came up with his own recipe for a beer called "White girl wasted" which was supposed to be a white chocolate coffee pumpkin ale or something like that.

Aged Alesmith Speeday Stout circa 2007.
Right on the edge age wise.  Heavy coffee and malt with a slight black liccorice undertone.

Saw a bunch of cool bottles I knew I likely wouldn't see again, that weren't horribly priced, and that probably wouldn't last long, so I had to pick them up.

Tahoe Mountain Aurelia, Jester King Wytchmaker, Jester King Provenance (Lemon & Lime), Jester King Le Petit Prince, and Beachwood Brewing Udder Love.  I missed out on one Jester King (I forgot what it was, but it was out) and decided against the Gotlandsdricka, but hoping that they're worth it since they were on the pricier end for me.

What's a "not horrible price" on the Aurelia where you are? I wanted it, passed on it a couple of times because of the price, and caved because Tahoe Mountain is amazing and I'm a sucker for large barrel aged wild ales. It still felt a little bad paying over $30 for two bottles.

I almost put the Aurelia back because it was $15 for a smaller bottle.  The only reason I grabbed it is because I'm a huge Tahoe Mountain fan.  The Jester king was $10-15 a bottle.  $15 is generally my limit for what I'll spend and I try to keep it under $10 a bottle (or an average of that).

Those are some pretty label arts

I almost put the Aurelia back because it was $15 for a smaller bottle.  The only reason I grabbed it is because I'm a huge Tahoe Mountain fan.  The Jester king was $10-15 a bottle.  $15 is generally my limit for what I'll spend and I try to keep it under $10 a bottle (or an average of that).

Same.

It was really good! I probably wouldn't buy it again at that price, but it was maybe the best balanced wild ale I've ever had.

Cracked a two-three year old bottles of Sahalie from Ale Apothecary while I was down in San Diego. Forgot how absolutely phenomenal that beer is with a few years on it, could be this batch though.

For those that like sours but don't know AA, get on it, they're producing some really interesting beers.
