Help with Keyboard Identification ASAP
« on: Sat, 06 April 2013, 15:01:04 »
Hey guys, found these at a garage sale for 18 each. Should I get them? Can I get some info on them? They are clicky similar to blue switches, but I can't pull of a key cap and tell which they are.

Your links go to your private google mail attachments.  You should copy them over to an image hosting site like imgur.

Those photos are tiny. I can't give you advice on whether or not to buy them, but would like to know what legends are on the caps in the first photo lol

Pop a cap on each, if they are alps or cherry, I'd say grab em.

Or press the switches, if they feel good, grab em. If they feel like crap, don't.

Korean. I'm not sure how to make them larger unfortunately. I think I'm going to grab the korean one, and I'll report back if I do.

I think you just transferred the thumbnails to imgur instead of the actual pics.

Assuming you're in the us and the caps are dirty as hell, could you buy me one (Korean Hangul) and send me the caps? I can pay you whenever :)

Edit - Never mind. I want to see the legends in a bigger photo first, but I may request for you to back and get me some lol

lol my reading comprehension is way off today. I actually thought OP said that there were 18 total keyboards in addition to them being $18 each.

9-bit let me know if you don't want the keycap set with Korean :)

i would have bought them both and never told these keyboard addicts.

lol this, but to be fair they'd get a bunch of switches for FREE :)

I think it's actually japanese. Sprung for that one. I'll post more pics in a bit.
I'm also having a hard time pulling off the caps with a plastic key cap puller. Any advice?

Do you have a wire puller? If not, I'd try some of the ones you haven't true yet. Maybe they'll be looser.

PS I want them even more if they have hiragana on them lol

They look nice, but ehhhh that's Chinese and I no longer want them lol

I can't wait to see what switches it has. Wait for others to give you suggestions for getting them off imo

Looks like white ALPS to me.  http://deskthority.net/wiki/Alps_SKCL/SKCM_Series

Those are some of the worst pics I've ever seen, btw.  First we had no pics, then pics too small, then blurry.  Whatever.  I don't know how we're supposed to help when we can't see.

Take a picture of the switch with that kind of quality and it'll be indentifiable.

It's a white alps switch. Do the colors matter?

Yes, very much so. Different colours have different feels (linear, tactile, click) as well as different springs resulting in a different actuation force.

A label without a part number.   :-\

Not that much help, the FCC ID doesn't even come up in a search, only earlier models like  GL233EKB-5161
