Kinda on topic, One placed I worked at completely swindled me ( and several others )
During the interview and hireing process, they showed us nice private offices complete with top of the line computer systems, promising we could bring in our own hardware or they would provide requested hardware for us. ( I ALWAYS ask if we can bring in personal hardware ) etc.
When I showed up on my first monday asking the boss where my desk is, he quickly escorted me to another building that was never mentioned during the interview/tour and I found my self hot-seating at a plastic fold out table, metal fold out chairs, in an normal sized personal office space with about 6 other people. All hardware was locked down, usb ports disabled, no internet, no start menu, basically every bad thing you could think of, 10 hour shifts with 30min lunches (no eating area, so you either drove to the nearest fast food place and ate in the car on the way back or brought a cold lunch ) and terrible pay. Hot seating was the worst, imagine showing up to work on a dell keyboard and mouse that was covered in syrup and food and crumbs from the morning shift guy. I couldn't use my own mouse because they woudn't let me install the required software. It was the worst place I've ever worked. I no joke tried to get fired from that place, I would watch netflix on my phone ( whole seasons of shows ) and do the minimal required amount of work.
I couln't see myself taking a job anymore unless I 100% know i'm allowed to bring in my own computer items. I cant go back to rubber domes, cheap mice, cheap chairs and 1080p screens.
Turns out the owner runs a temp agency buisness as well, and hired me under that so that basically he didn't have to offer us insurance benifits, etc, and only had about 10 or so real workers there.
I later ended up walking out and kept all the files i was working on without leaving them a copy. Didnt give a heads up, just walked off and a few days later when they called i told them about my new job I was working at.
