Unicomp EnduraPro: possible mods?
« on: Wed, 08 May 2013, 02:48:27 »
Sooo I've bought the Unicomp EnduraPro because... well, this is the wallethack, right? Anyway, my feelings about this keyboard are mixed at best. Nice keycaps, great tactility, trackpoint, I don't even mind the noise most of the time.  However,

  • trackpoint buttons are awful: stiff and mushy—is it possible to replace them (possibly with omrons or something)?
  • BS feels very nice, but too stiff to someone used to Cherry MX Red—has anyone tried to use some lighter springs?

My daily driver laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T430, and I'm using a Unicomp Classic Black 104.

And let me tell you, if someone ever fits a TrackPoint 3 in one of those, I'd buy it off of them for 300% hands down.

I remember asking about replacing the springs on a Unicomp a while ago, and there was some issue with it for some reason.. I think it had to do with attaching the spring to the hammer plate or something like that.

Light spring BS board. I'll take two!

I'd love to mod my Ultra Classic with lighter springs. I might even use it :)
