There is one picture with a black half plate. What is the reason why someone would want plate-mounted switches on the modifiers, and PCB-mounted switches on the main letter keys?

Half plate was designed for tactile switches, this is all I know about it.

I did have a half plate cheat with clears and didn't like it, had too much pcb flex.

I've seen these half plates in the past, but never understood why tactile switches benefit from half plates. Haven't seen much of them nowadays.

I believe the idea was that the PCB would become less rigid and increase the tactile feel. Since then, I also have seen a decline in half plates. I thought it was one of those ideas that fizzled when people realized the BS.

Eventually, stickers will be like that also, IMO.

There is a wasd sampler kit, but it is kind of a crappy way of telling which switches you like.
It basically goes like this though:
-MX Blue (Tactile, Loud)
-MX Brown (Tactile, silent)
-MX Red (Non tactile, Light actuation)
-MX Black (Non Tactile, heavy actuation)
-Topre (whatever)

Right, I want to feel them though! I'd pretty much just need the stems and springs right, not the whole switch?
I saw the WASD sampler pack when I was looking around for a Colemak keycap set. :-) It's nice to know that someone makes them! Maybe I'll make a wtb thread. I was just wondering if there is any especially cheap place to get all the different switches, including the more rare ones.
