Ducky Mini
« on: Thu, 06 June 2013, 06:10:48 »
Ducky Mini pic from Ducky's Official Facebook Page:

Looks like Ducky has joined the 60% club with backlit :) Should be interesting to see what kind of back light customization it'll have (like Zero, Shine II, or Shine III???). Pricing should be interesting too.

That Ducky logo is definitely better than their other ones tho, or at least much cuter :)

mmm ... it is a Poker II with LEDs. The FN layer looks similar to the Poker II with the addition of the on/off for LEDs. Here's hoping there's a broader spectrum of switch options for the Ducky Mini.

In past years does Ducky seem to release products soon after Computex (the way Apple would do it) or do they wait several months (the way most manufacturers do it)?

Apple does that because they know they can sell anything.

Everyone else does the delay so they can gauge reactions before committing.

Or it'll be like the dragon, a branded shine ll. And the price will just be a lot more :(
I'm hoping for it to be something more out of the norm.

Ahhhhh so it really is just a Poker II, is it a completely rebrand?  Or did they just copy it but use Ducky's own internal?

Hmmmm~ A double sided PCB with poker form factor? I'd be in for one. I was always on the fence about 60% but with a double sided PCB and maybe dip switches? That would be a deal sealer. Fit it into an aluminum case..... wow.. I'm like persuading myself as I talk.

Maybe that delayed reaction lights we saw in the Shine 3 video. Excessive but nice touch... hopefully they won't try to charge 30 bux more just for that though.. that'd be stupid.

Cute.  Nice to have another 60% option.  But I still like my function keys.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Will this have cherry or costar stabilizers?

This will most definitely have Cherry stabilizers. If you're worried about the whole Cherry-stabilizers-suck thing, I would still consider this as they may feature the new "improved" Cherry stabilizers that are featured in the Zero line. I have no personal experience with these though.

I thought people was bumpin with new info possibly...
Not sure how "new" this info is but according to Ducky Nordic they are scheduled for release early-mid august with 4 switch types available and white or purple leds.

"4 switch types." I guess they'll be the standard Black, Blue, Brown, and Reds. No word on Green LED's like in the OP pic?
