I recently bought Acdsee Pro 6 and i was quite disappointing over the software.
For one its quite slow. Pictures in fullscreen don't get rendered instantly (even if scanned in the database) and even a search for specific word take quite a long time. The software does have some nice features like editing and managing the images you accumulate.
The good thing is, i paid only $45 Dollars for it but i uninstalled it now.
After testing some other programs like Ashampoo Photo Commander (which is buggy but nice) i have now XnView running which is free and does everything i want. It does have some sort of database but its not the same like Acdsee has. Still, its actually fast.
But i come to the conclusion that for what i need it, Acdsee is way to much for me anyway. So stick with the simpler things, in my case XnView. The editing part is not there of course but then there is Gimp.
I am sure my Pc is not anymore the fastest but from the specs Acdsee should have loaded quicker really. Not sure what anyones experience is or if other feel differently.
One thing i really hated about Acdsee is that tags are stored in a Acdsee format thats not compatible with the standard.
