i could have bought a top tier headphone amp/dac or a 2014 top tier mountain bike with the money i spent on keyboards that after all really are duplicates--i only need one...

sentimental aside, i don't regret anything i did, life is too short to regret things

I did some calculations, and the numbers wasn't pretty, considering I don't own clacks. About 2-3k in total on keyboard stuff, including soldering and modification gear and miscellany like lube, springs, stickers, cosmetic changes.

Little bit of a shock, when I totaled it up. At the back of my mind I was pretty sure the total was much smaller.... especially since I'd stopped wanting anything after I got my ergodox. But still, there is a bright side - this is still a lot cheaper than if I had to go for carpal tunnel surgery, which I certain would've required if I continued working away with my stock boards. No regrets, especially considering the fact that I tried almost every cherry switch, BS and learnt a bunch of stuff while I was here.

Very cheap, especially if you had had the surgery, went back to the situation that caused the problem without making any changes and then had to give up your career...

Yea my original estimate in this thread was pretty far off too considering after all shipping costs, customs, parts and caps my LZ-GH cost me around $600. I'm well over $2k I'm sure of that now. All in 10 months or so. Plus all the soldering gear which I consider keyboard stuff since that's likely all I'll use it for. I like all my stuff but its certainly overkill. And I barely have anything compared to many people on GH. But I still need a Topre, I still need a full size, I still need a BS, an Alps, a numpad. That just about rounds out the collection quite nicely. The only bad part is I'm the type of person where if I'm going to have only one of something (eg. one Topre board) then I gotta go for something high end (eg. HHKB). It's silly, I know...

same here. My bass rig alone costs more than all my keyboard stuff and that's just a very small drop in the bucket of gear I have in my studio. Not sure if that's supposed to make me feel better haha

I did a rough add up and came to around $1500. I figured I'd add around $500 for miscellaneous parts/caps, selling things at a loss or stuff I didn't think of.


I didn't include soldering gear or clacks. However I still have some stuff to pay for.....

I know exactly how much I've spent on them and I was surprised at the average price per clack that I've paid. I though it was going to be more than it really was!

Since I have no family obligation being single, a non-smoker, and almost a teetotaler (I do drink on special occasions, like weddings, Christmas, New Year), I do have some spare change for my computer hardware. So, from last September till now, I have bought:
CM Storm Trigger x2 (Red and Green)
Armaggeddon MKA-3 Black Hornet (Cherry Red) - a spur of the moment buy
DS II 78 Version
DS II Special Ed with white key caps (Blue)
Ducky DK9087G2 Pro TKL with white PBT key caps
Filco MJ NINJA x2 (Black and Brown)
CM QF TK (Blue)
Lexmark Model M (circa 1993) - I just had to own a Model M, regardless of brand
Ducky DK9008 (Blue) - bought it and painted it white for the Miami key caps
Topre Realforce 103UB-55G

Have also reserved an aluminum YOTS and a HHKB Pro2 which I would pick up together when the YOTS is released sometime next month. I'm from Asia, and the price of some of these boards I'd gotten is above what the same one would cost in the US. For example, I'd paid something like 180+ USD for my 78 Version, and about 160USD for the Special Ed.......we get the shaft pricewise when it comes to hardware. How much did I pay for all? Ugh, more than I'd care to tally up....

where did you get DS3 TKL version?
Aw shoot! My bad  :-[, I'd meant DS II 78 Version and DS II Special Ed. The DK9087G2 Pro is a plain Ducky TKL model. Ducky has not released a TKL DS 3 yet...

There are three numbers:
how much I paid for my stuff
how much is it worth
how much could I get if I sold it

I don't keep track of the the first one, and about the latter... I guess I'm somewhere between $500 and $1500 considering only things I own at the moment. My plan is to sell more or less everything except few modded/ergo boards until next year. I hope I won't lose too much.
