Simple IQ Test 2
« on: Sat, 22 June 2013, 01:38:01 »
Draw the side view of this object or draw an isometric (3-D) drawing and post your results in this thread.  The bottom drawing is the front view and the top drawing is the top view.

It's a square. I'm not drawing it, but it's a square.

How could a rectangle be a square?

Unless I'm missing something then no.  The top drawing is not the plan, or the bottom drawing is not the front elevation - the two are mutually incompatible for that relationship.  The inner pair of vertical lines on the plan should extend to the horizontal lines to make it fit the elevation, or the elevation should have (at least) a horizontal line all the way across its top, rather than being a stretched U.

Regardless, without seeing the east (by convention) elevation we can't know what it looks like, it could have windows and a door, it could have a M4 hole drilled and tapped, it could have a picture of your ma'!

Unless I am interpreting it wrong:

I mislabeled. So the side is the front and the front is the side in my drawings. The front is the side because it is facing us, so the left side is the side of the shape (if that makes sense.)

I don't think this is possible.

Please show the solution.

No line shows on the original front (aka side) elevation.

If the 'front' view is actually upside down then the side is possibly a rectangle?

Um... Isn't it just this, or am I missing something? Sorry for the crudity of the drawing. No 3D software installed.

No, the top view would show more lines.

It's not exactly drawn to scale,  but here is at least one solution:

Got me! That's a good one! We seldom think of curved surfaces without edges.
