I love my Microsoft Intellimouse Optical 1.1a and would like to find a wireless mouse that has the same shape and "feel" of the Intellimouse when using my notebook at clients sites and such.  I've been using the corded version with the notebook but the USB wire is just too long!

This will not be used for gaming but rather basic use.  I cannot find anything wireless that fits the shape and size of the Intellimouse.  I do have a Sensei RAW that I like the feel of too but it's not cordless either.

So if anyone can help point me in the right direction to a wireless mouse that has a similar design as the Intellimouse or the Sensei please let me know.  Oh, the wireless receiver needs to be small too.  I don't want to have to drag around the gigantic receiver that Microsoft used for the wireless optical mouse. :)

Thanks,
J.

It's not a true match, but maybe you can try feeling up a Mamba at your local BestBuy. ;)

Thanks,
I have a Mamba 2012 edition.  The problem with the Mamba is that the wireless receiver is the big ass pedestal that it sets on to recharge!  Why they didn't make it a bluetooth + wired option, is beyond me!

I also have the Logitech bluetooth that came as a set with the keyboard and mouse.  It's the large Logitech that has the scroll wheel at the thumb too.  It's bluetooth and I may just have to go back to using it.  My other option would be to "mod" one of my Intellimouse Explorer mouse so that the USB cable is only about 20 inches instead of 3 or 4 feet long.  Hey, anyone know how to shorten the USB cable? LOL :)

You could try a G700s, I don't know if the shape will fit you, but it doesn't have a bigass receiver and it's way more practical for non-gaming stuff than the Mamba.

While I prefer the G700, you may want to look at the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 Bluetooth mouse.

You can get the mouse on Ebay without a dock for about $25 if you look around. Like the G700, it uses a standard AA battery, so not having a dock, isn't a big deal, and the battery lasts quite a while. Unlike the G700 which is a battery vampire if you ramp up the polling rate. Having said that, while I think some things about it could be better, I think the G700 is probably the best wireless mouse and one of the best mice ever built. Which is saying a lot.

Your bluetooth Logitech sounds like the MX5800, which is a rather rare bluetooth Logitech Revolution. Revolutions are actively sought after and have retained a LOT of their value. The MX Performance and G700 just don't look as nice so people are always looking for the older Revolution. Like them, I didn't care much for the MX Performance but loved the Revolution. The G700 is ugly and overkill and took some adapting, but it sure does work good.

That's what I love about the G700/s, it might look ugly but it works like a charm, Logitech's button designers have done an outstanding job in making it work. Unfortunately I had to return my G700s because the shape combined with the heavy and uneven weight made it incredibly uncomfortable to use, although at higher sensitivities this shouldn't be much of an issue.

I will check out the g700.  In the meantime I've simply shortened the usb cable by folding it up and putting a large heat shrink tube over it.

I've read the G700 eats batteries up as snacks! LOL  Has this been your experience?

Thanks,
J.

Yeah, it does do that at higher polling rates, but you can safely turn them way down since you're not going to be gaming.

If you run it at a polling rate of 333 or 500, the stock (2100mah) battery should get you through about 16 hours of actual work, and as little as 8 hours of gaming and work combined. These rates aren't an issue, and will work fine even if you run a really hyper sensitive mouse rate.

A  2700mah AA battery will get you about a 30-40% increase, and a poll rate of 1000 will get you through all but the most hardcore game sessions.

Regardless, expect to charge it daily.

I've got the perfect one for you. Zowie ec1 evo or ec2 evo. Both are shaped like it and have a flawless sensor just like the Intellimouse.

But they aren't wireless, which the OP specifically asked for.

The finest mouse I've found is the Logitech Anywhere MX.  It is a notebook mouse, as specified by the OP.  But I've replaced my home mice with the MX Anywhere too.

The wheel is very innovative -- it is a heavy flywheel -- you can press the wheel to disengage the clicker, and give it a spin to page through long documents -- absolutely great.  It has their "Darkfield" laser - it is extremely accurate on any surface -- even glass -- even a sofa cushion.  It has great battery life -- takes 2xAA, but it can run off 1x AA if you are really weight conscious.  It is not blue tooth, but I've found blue tooth to be a PIA for mice -- it uses a very small USB receiver which can store inside.  I use them at home as well as on the road -- you can mate several mice to one receiver - so one mouse stays in the laptop bag when I drop it into the docking station.

I've use the Microsoft 7000 notebook mouse.  And I used the Microsoft 5000 full sized mouse for quite a while.  But gave up both of those for the Logitech MX Anywhere.  I also tried Logitech's full sized MX mouse -- but didn't like it as well as the Anywhere.  It's kinda' expensive for a mouse; but I've upgraded my laptop three times and kept the mouse.  I recommend it unreservedly.

Thanks everyone.  I think I'm going to get the G700.  I like full sized mice but hate the ones that are super flat or the ones that have the thumb going deep into the mice like some of the Logitech.  I've also switched to a Macbook Pro from PC, getting a little used to it, and I know that Logitech usually has pretty good software to control the movement & acceleration.  I have a Thunderbolt docking station and use (3) 23" 1080p monitors and I have noticed I have to try to set acceleration way up to move from monitor 1 across to monitor 3!

Thanks everyone!
