I've been looking into mechanical keyboards lately, and while looking, I found a guide on how to change and modify key switches without desoldering; apparently you need a PCB mounted keyboard in order to do so. I have heard about cherry mx clear switches which seem to be exactly like browns, but stiffer with a more pronounced tactile bump and some people have said that cherry mx clears feel great if you mod them with a lighter spring.
So my questions is: What are some PCB mounted keyboards?
I have seen the Poker X keyboard which is PCB mounted, however my concern with that is that the PCB is fully exposed which will leave it very prone to being damaged. Are there any PCB mounted keyboards with a protective backplate, and if so, which keyboards should I be looking at?
