without you, we wouldn't have geekhack.

without you, we wouldn't have gotten back online after rootwyrm.

without you, we might not check our smoke detectors regularly.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

They are not even the same unit of measurement.

Thank you EVERYONE for making geekhack what it is today.  Six years ago, there weren't any (at least english) communities available.  I had no idea whether I could drum up sufficient participation to justify the site's existence...but I rolled the dice (mainly because there was no downside aside from a few bucks spent on the domain name).

The domain name came from the two groups I perceived as caring the most about quality keyboards, techies (geeks) and writers (hacks).  :)

Just a reminder: iMaving is the act of punching a wall, and then immediately doing something conscientious or thoughtful, like checking your smoke detector's batteries.

So that's where the domain name came from.  Just goes to show what a preconception can do for you.

I can only imagine the amount of hours it takes to keep this site going.
If it were not for iMav,  there would be no geekhack, and without geekhack,  I would still be wondering if the Razer BW was the board for me.  Now I know there are many more options than a mass production advert hype!

Oh, this too!  I was on the verge of buying a BWU in Mac layout before I saw the light.  And by light, I do not mean backlighting.

i remember in February i was desperately looking for a Poker X. iMav and i began emailing each other about a custom Poker X he had made with a low-profile vortex case, plate, CCnG caps, MX Blues, etc. i was on the fence about the board until i saw this youtube video, which i found simply by googling his username. i was sold. i sent him the paypal money then and there.

that board has since been gutted and its parts are now in almost all my other boards. i like having a bit of imav in my subsequent creations. he created this site which gave me an avenue to learn how to do this, so it is only fitting.

thanks for the site and the board that got me addicted to customs.
