Deleting Poker II space bar text.
« on: Thu, 29 August 2013, 07:27:52 »
Hi!

Have anyone tried to erase the text in the poker II space bar?
Something like polish it with dremel or so?

I'm getting mine in a few days and would like to give it a try maybe

I am pretty sure it is laser etched. You better find another space bar or live with it.

the picture(s) of the poker II's on mechanicalkeyboards.com are showing it with a blank space bar in addition to the keycap puller and a couple of colored keys.

I did purchase one about 6 weeks ago and it did NOT come with one.  Is someone able to confirm that they are now shipping with a blank space bar?

Thanks

In the macro picture the laser etched part seems to be over the key, maybe i can make it work, or at least turn the text black.  :D

Just curious - could we just sandpaper the letters off a standard (non laser etched) keycap? Or would it look terrible?

My poker doesn't come with extra space bar  :'(

Maybe sanding is a bit hard, i was thinking more on something like polishing, i think i'm gonna tray even if it's laser etched.

Are spare space bars available in the size of the Poker II BTW? It's a 6x right?

Yeah but polish with what though? Take a bottle of Jack Daniels to it? Haha

Perhaps you could paint over the lettering with a black paint? The etching would likely still be somewhat visible, but I'd imagine it would be much less noticeable.

Nah I'd rather not do that. With the amount of typing I do it would just wear off in a few months.

The other option would be to see if you could use a plastic friendly paint thinner to remove the paint. It would leave the laser'ed shadow, but, that would be better than nothing.

Paint thinner! Of course. I will give that a try on a few keys later on and see how that goes.

It is not paint.
Paint thinner will destroy ABS plastic on the Razer.

Take to it with 120 grit sand paper or equivalent using a dremel if it's really annoying you.
