I just got in on the KBT Pure Pro Mechanical Keyboard PREORDER massdrop in the hopes that it could replace my crappy wireless logitech.  I am thinking I'll set up two teensy's as the input and output for the communication.  I am not an Electrical Engineer so I am planning on doing the project in stages.

  • External Power.  I will split apart the wire so that the keyboard is powered by a wall wart, but still uses the tx/rx to the computer.
  • Wireless TX/RX. Obviously this is the hard part.  I was hoping to take some of the code and ideas from this, as it does half of the work: http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=security%2Fhomemade-hardware-keylogger-phukd
  • Optional Battery control.  So if you put in enough AA batteries you can be unplugged entirely.  I'd still like to have a USB micro plug to reconnect to wall wart though
  • Finally, since I would be completely relaying all the keystrokes through a "wireless proxy" I think it would be interesting to investigate "middleware macros."  The idea being that you can program a macro on the teensy and then it applies to any keyboard using the teensy.

This also might be handy, though it's PS/2: https://courses.cit.cornell.edu/ee476/FinalProjects/s2003/lph2/WirelessKybd/index.html

If anyone else has done this or has links for it please let me know.  I'd be willing to purchase something if it's not too expensive also.

Quoting me causes a posting error that you need to ignore.

Meanwhile, there are other solutions that can fit inside/on-side of the keyboard more nicer:
