Got my IBM Model F Keyboard in today. It is an absolute dream to type on.
I had my Model F revamped, converted to USB and repainted. Also notice the unique keycaps I got from Unicomp. I would also like to renege my previous comments about them. These keycaps seem to be of excellent quality.
Also, I can't forget to thank USPS for cracking the freshly repaired case. The box was packed incredibly well and they still were able to live up to their reputation.
As a temporary repair, I strapped down the crack with a layer of painter's tape to protect the paint then went over that with some Gorilla Tape. On the way I have some sugru as a permanent fix.
I am also open to any ideas on a better fix! I am all ears.
Beyond the cosmetic damage, this Model F is an absolutely wonderful keyboard to bang on- it's definitely going to make me an even faster typist. I prefer it over my IBM Model M, as the keys seem to require less force on the F versus the M. Or I could be full of ****, which is definitely possible.
