They're both fine boards. There's nothing particularly special about either. They're both similar, but with completely different designs. Just pick whichever your friend likes the look of best..

I'd suggest either a Ducky Shine 3 or a CM QFR, depending on which format appeals to your friend.  That way, if they just hate the mechanical keyboard, these both retain their value quite well.

I don't know much about the K70, but I don't see many people buying them or selling them here.

Good luck!

Sorry, I'm not following?  The Shine 3 comes with media keys, but you can use them as regular keys too.  Or were you asking about a media utility that would work with the keyboard?

The shine 3 comes with mute volume down volume up. He wants something that connects by USB that can do all of that including play/pause. I don't know of that sorta thing exists.

can't this be done with software? something like autohotkey?
I'm getting a kbt pure pro soon. and my friend told me that it is possible to map fn + "whatever" key into media play/pause, last song, next song. etc

That's the thing he's used that before but the games auto hack detect banned him for that before... So he sorta wants something external.

I'm pretty sure there a ton of products out there that act as dedicated media controllers for PCs.  I found an actual remote control at Amazon, one of my first search results, so I'd bet there are lots of options to fit your friend's needs.
