I haven't personally tried Cherry Clear, but according to most that the Matias Quiet Pro actually feels similar to Ergo Clear.

So now I wonder if we removed the rubber damper, will it feel even closer to Clear?

Though yes granted it won't be quiet anymore, but I'd assume it should feel better.  I thought about trying it before but after swapping switches for my girlfriend's Tactile ALPS to Quiet ALPS, I got sick and tired of looking at switches LOL.

Maybe I'll give it a shot one day when I'm brave enough to open 108 switches again.  :P

Removing the rubber dampers should not change the force curve.

Yeah it won't, but it will free up the bottom out distance, which is a common annoyance in using o-ring (similar idea).

Hopefully it will give an overall more "clean" and crispier feeling.

Maybe this isn't accurate but I always assumed w/o the dampener it would feel a lot like a normal Alps switch..

lol I'd say this is pretty much accurate.  While Tactile Pro is kinda like MX Blue equivalent.  Quiet Pro I'd say is more like MX Brown/Clear + o-ring equivalent.

So yeah probably just feel like regular ALPS.

Matias quiet is a lot nicer than Alps black or salmon — substantially lighter and far more tactile. Orange is the only switch that has any hope of competing with Matias, but I've not got an Alps orange keyboard.

Are you talking without the dampener or with?  We do know that they're basically alps switches modded w/ a dampener and also to, apparently, fix some of the reliability issues regular Alps switches had...

The difference in key travel will be smaller than with Cherry MX with O-rings. I find unmodified Cream Alps to already be crisper than Cherry MX with O-rings.

I have been tempted to put Matias Quiet switches in one of my vintage Apple keyboards ... but there isn't really any of them that I think has any good layout. (for Swedish)

Yeah Matias did say they had to reinvent the switch.  Even though they kind of copied the original design but things really aren't that simple so they had to do a lot of adjustments.

Yeah I'm still on the fence about this.  Though considering the damper dampens down and upstroke, I'd think it should still free up a little bit of travel distance.  But consider the difference I wonder if it's worth the effort.

I dunno...the way I read it, they basically said they had to make some minor adjustments which helped on the reliability side..but the switch itself is basically an Alps switch.

I haven't pulled the rubber dampener out of the switch and I'm not really planning to...and it has been many years since I've used an Alps keyboard..but even the tactile pro seemed familiar..maybe there are a lot more subtle differences...I haven't actually tried them side by side..

I can't comment on the Matias switches specifically, but I did make a hybrid Blue-Cream Alps switch before, and I found that the dampeners made the switch feel mushy, perhaps because I tend to bottom out on Alps switches. But aside from that, the dampener should have no effect on the feel of the switch.
