That's cool. I'd like to get that just so my kids know what a record is.

I think my mom still has some from when I was a kid that were story books.

That looks like a fantastic deal.

I have used Audio Technica cartridges for years and have been very pleased with them.

I have a ton (including a mint condition Michael Jackson "Thriller" still in the factory cellophane).  Almost entirely 70's and 80's rock as they were inherited from my parents.
I personally have one of these that my brother had completely restored (new belt/needle/arm servo):
Mitsubishi MC-8000

If I had the room, I would have picked up one of these Audio Technica units in a heartbeat.  Figured I should share it.

Edit: had the wrong model (been a while since I have seen it - brother is storing it while I live in an apartment).  Had to call him a confirm model.   :-[

That "regular price" of $229.99 is BS.  It usually sells for around $85, the lowest around $65 (both including free shipping).  Newegg: "Save: $160.00 (70%)"   :))

Still a decent deal for retail.

You really know how to make a guy feel old.

My collection is mostly 1960s-70s rock and jazz. I like the more progressive avant-garde and psychedelic stuff. Like "free jazz" that most people call noise.

Collectors want original pressings on original labels. Listeners want clean undamaged records. Don't be afraid to take dirty records to the kitchen sink and give them a warm soapy sponge bath, although you will damage perhaps 5% of the labels that way.

Are you talking about lyric sheets or kids' records? Yes, I remember both.

Not meant to.  My parents had a pretty good collection and skipped tapes completely, but when cds came out, they went full force and replaced their entire collection and then some.  The records were just put in a cabinet and forgotten.  My brother found the record player in the back of a closet and asked if he could restore it.  We both took over the records and he got bored of the record player later and handed it over to me.  I haven't listed to it in at least 10 years, but hopefully in the next couple will get a house and finally a place to have my own audio room.
