Moose is Amazing
« on: Sun, 17 November 2013, 13:44:03 »
esoomenonema, after seeing tj's kindness on Pacifist's thread, where he was selling an Oktoberfest and I was trying to find one without selling my body, decided to be a super generous person and let me use his Oktoberfest MX on my board! I also got to see some of his many clacks (one of which is worth more than the three keyboards I've bought so far...), and feel the cloud of mammaries that is Topre (HHKB is so light!). It was pretty awesome. Finally, as he was leaving, he showed me an unfinished board in an aluminum case, informing me that he was out of a soldering iron and was more interested in the keycaps that came with it, so I now have an unfinished 60% board in an aluminum case!

Rest assured, when I manage to find out what on earth I'm supposed to do and get a soldering iron, I'll finish it up and post many, many pictures. But here are six, three for each thing.

And I uploaded a video of myself typing, you can see the source of all my power in the upper left hand corner of the keyboard. It's also less potato-quality than my earlier one.

This is why moose-skulls happened,

60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

That keyboard looks familiar! Good guy moose!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Nice moose :)

So, how long did her let you use his Oktoberfest for?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Indeed. And as far as I know, until he wants it back, which hopefully he won't in the near future?  :D
And your board arrived in Australia today!

Haha, he might actually make me use something other than my Blues..

I think you're following it a bit closer than I am.

Shouldn't be more than about another week before I get it then :))
