Stuck on choosing the perfect keyboard
« on: Sun, 24 November 2013, 15:05:24 »
First of all, im new to this forum but i've been reading through here many times! (I dont even know if im typing in the right forum section)

My problem is, i mainly want to buy Ducky Dyesub PBT with MX Blues but its not in stock and will not be before some weeks.

But i've been looking at Das keyboard Ultimate with MX Blues also, aswell as Ducky G2PRO Tenkeyless ABS with MX blues.
I really want a new keyboard before Christmas.

Any input on what i should do, are the Ducky Tenkeyless or the Das worth to buy instead of the Ducky with PBT switches and Dyesub?

You can always get a QFR with blues for cheap on black Friday/cyber Monday then buy some PBT dyesub later.
QFR | MJ2 TKL | "Bulgogiboard" (Keycon 104) | ctrl.alt x GON 60% | TGR Alice | Mira SE #29 | Mira SE #34 | Revo One | z | Keycult No. 1 | First CW87 prototype | Mech27v1 | Camp C225 | Duck Orion V1 | LZ CLS sxh | Geon Frog TKL | Hiney TKL One | Geon Glare TKL

you seem to have similar tastes to myself; I came from a g15 v2 and blues were the most interesting switch.

if you want backlights, go with shine 3.  otherewise , save your money and go for the quick fire rapid.

both of those boards have versions with and without numpads.

I don't really care for back lighting, but i do like the simple design on Ducky and Das.

I have a friend that have had a lot of problems with he's Coolermaster keyboard, and i don't really care about saving money simply because i enjoy good quality, and i don't change keyboard often.

I agree about the Quickfire keyboard. It is cheaper but just as good as the Filco or the DAS (actually much better than the DAS).

if you're not happy with coolermaster quality...you won't be happy with any keyboard.

if you treat a keyboard like ****; it will break on you.

I really want a new keyboard before Christmas, i've been using my terrible Logitech G15 for some years.

Comparing a legendless keyboard (Das Ultimate) versus a keyboard with legended keys (Ducky) that seems rather difficult. Adding a TKL board into the mix when you own a full sized keyboard into the mix is even more interesting.

The quality of ABS is generally quite debateable. They are cheap, dime a dozen and people say gets shiny more quickly than PBT.  A simple google shows Das keyboards are using ABS plastic for their key caps. So that might be a no-no for someone whom may prefer PBT key caps (I personally would much prefer PBT actually).

Ducky G2Pro TKL from what I have read are PBT but the key legends I think according to ducky channel are lasered rather than sublimated. The only keyboard within the Ducky range that is both PBT based and dye sublimated is the G2 Pro PBT. I don't even know if one can buy Dye sub PBT Ducky key caps separately or not.

Bought the CM Storm Quickfire XT, gonna pick it up today.

Anyways, i would like to change the keycaps on it. That alien like font doesn't look good.
And if anyone know about a USB to USB sleeved cable i can buy i appreciate it.

Anyone know of any Thick PBT blank white keycaps, White dyesub thick PBT caps or even another color that would look good?

Answers are much appreciated!

Got the keyboard!

The key caps are really bad, can feel the printing when i have my fingers on it. Need to change it ASAP.

Another problem is that i didn't get ANSI layout, is there any key caps sets out there which fits for my keyboard then?
