Most Effective Way To Clean ABS?
« on: Fri, 06 December 2013, 18:41:06 »
In almost a month, I will be getting a Ducky Shine 3 TKL. With it having ABS Caps and them wearing down quickly, I was wondering the best way to clean them. Also, how often should I clean them? I was thinking about maybe doing it every 2-4 weeks to keep that new look to them. Any advice?

How often should you clean them?
I suppose just when they become visibly dirty. I usually get really impatient waiting for caps to dry and end up hitting each one on a marble vanity top to quickly get rid of most water underneath.

But washing is just going to keep them clean, ABS will still shine. "That new look to them" is ABS with its unpolished texture from the factory

I wash my ABS caps once a month in warm water + denture tabs. Air dry under a fan on a towel.

How long does it take them to dry?

Um, usually I just leave it out overnight. If you dont wanna wait, put them in a pillowcase and then in the dryer for a few minutes. Or put them in a pillowcase and swing it around.

I'm too lazy and wait it out. I just swap keyboards.

Warm soapy water worked for me. I used a soft cloth to clean it also. The orange set of cap I have, the legends are still grey instead of white. Then again I am kind of lazy.
