bamboo keyboard for all your fibrous needs
« on: Wed, 11 December 2013, 15:31:03 »
So, I'm not sure whether to put this here as a joke, or in off-topic with an "What the heck ...?" tagline, but:

Gentlman. BEHOLD!

Profile? Flat. Mouse? included. Also made of grass. Layout? standard.

In a move not matchable by many that aren't Nubbinator, have a keyboard (case and keycaps) made of grass so tall you could never possibly mow it. So they ground it down to make a normal looking mouse, instead.

$99, in stock and ready to ship to your workbench. No smoking, please.

Everything that's "green"  is always a piece of **** and dumb. It'd be "greener" to buy and old Model M and use that.

Yea I got one of these off eBay awhile ago for $35. Never used it yet, but have checked and they are rubber dome. Pushed the switches a bit and they feel decent for that they are.

This is too expensive. Definitely there are much cheaper bamboo keyboards.

Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

As someone already pointed to keep using a recycled old keyboard will be always more environmentally friendly. Also reusing old caps and so on.

Talking about greener the hard part of current products is the huge amount of water they get to be built in their supply chain, so any possible reuse of parts or boards will be always greener.

And finally, mechanical boards will be greener than rubbers just because they last longer. Maybe not because of reliability but because we keep using them, while the others will be disposed in a year or two, with the computers they come with.
