For those that react to some arsehole's horrible behaviour, the trick is always look at where you are.  Never retaliate in the midst of many eye-witnesses.  Because your arse will end up in the stockade soon enough, - been there done that.

The most important thing is wait and then track the arsehole(s) down in a side street/alleyway, away from camera's (they're everywhere now in most cities in Australia) that way you have a real chance of meeting out your own justice upon these mutts.  The best thing is the feeling after smacking the hell out of them, it's like being on drugs because the rush of adrenaline is truly intoxicating.  Very difficult to stop your actions once you let loose the fury.  You only back away when they're down and not moving anymore.

It's tough here in Perth, hence you need to know how to take care of yourself, especially out in the middle of nowhere because there is no one to witness anything and there it can get really serious (knives, spikes, razors, clubs, batons etc.).  That's it, learn how to defend yourself and meet out extreme justice and life doesn't get any better, especially when you're the last one standing  :thumb: .

I didn't know John Rambo lived in Australia.

Even "Rambo" started out as a weedy kid in primary school that got his arse kicked repeatedly.  You just grow up fast, or die.  My Dad always said that if you can't stand up for yourself in this world, then lay down and let every idiot fvck you right up the arse, each and every day.  He never ever stood about protecting me because all that does is instill the mindset of depending upon someone else to settle your scores/battles.

You are born alone into this world and if you don't know how to sort things out in a vicious confrontation then you fall.  Besides fighting has always been good for the stamina and heart rate.  Plus you learn to differentiate between who will be the toughest to take down and who will be the easiest, in a few seconds.

I grew up in the rougher side of Perth, where you either stand up or run and hide.  Plus it has helped me through some of the toughest times in my life and it prepares you for the worst things that could ever happen to you.  My mrs always says that I'm the most tolerant person in the world - except when it comes to bullies/thugs and arseholes.

i always knew i don't want to live in perth. water shortage, redbacks, elrick.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I know that this sounds crazy, but some girls are just way too attractive for movies. A movie is supposed to invoke emotions based on storylines and the characters built around them. But some of these actresses emotionally distract me from the feelings that I'm supposed to have based on the story. I should be sad at certain points in these films where instead I'm just.....not sad.
With that said, I hope they never stop casting these beauties! It's just a mixed bag. What a mess.

Now, time to find more Scarlett Johansen movies.

Yikes!

Worst you'd get here is sprayed by coolant from a burst radiator!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That's an every day occurrence where I live. People are idiots. A lot of times you see people driving with a foot or more of snow on their roof and when you're behind them it's like you're driving in your own personal blizzard. And then the slushy dirty snow comes out from the mud flaps in huge frozen chunks and it's like hitting a bolder sometimes. I know that everything is relative but I honestly get a good laugh when I see news reports etc. about winter conditions in other places further south. Some places have gone as far as calling out the military to clear the streets. I call that Tuesday.

Sold a bunch of stuff I wanted to keep to pay for a flight to see my family during a hard time. Flight's cancelled due to weather. Fine, can't control the weather. Airlines cancelled at the absolute last minute though because it costs them money to cancel prematurely, and now I don't have time to schedule an earlier flight. Have to leave 2 days layer than planned, and I'm going home for something quite time-sensitive. I'm angry and sad.

That is all.

For the love of Mike, can every single form of entertainment media just stop with the zombies already? How the hell are people not just flat out sick and tired of the constant bombardment of zombie crap churned out every 2.4 seconds by people who think whatever they are working on is cool or edgy or they wanna get in on this undying fad(heh.) Enough with the goddamn zombies, planet Earth. They are so played out, sooooooo played.

TL;DR, but I concur.  Getting really clichéd.  Also on that list for me: Fast & Furious movies, Marvel Movies, and pretty much all reality television.

Our local school system spent millions on the new football field(because we all know teenagers playing football is so important) and now they are having to cut almost a million dollars out of the budget by dropping classes/teachers, they started with the consumer education/home economics class (ie: how to cook, sew, write a check) and now they are going for the art and computer classes next.

best buy return policy.

It's 15 days... which might not be an issue? but i bought a surface rt for my wife, didn't feel like driving out to BB, free shipping why not. It arrives 7 days later, my wife comes home and basically says she wants the pro (actual windows) and it's smaller? So i just drive out to BB (15mins) Find the surface pro, do return/exchange... turns out i'm 17 days in. I'm actually shocked when she said it's 17 days and i'm like "so" (in my mind i'm thinking it's 30 like most retail stores). Then i argue that i bought this thing online, but it took 7 days to get to me, that's half my return time.

Of course i had to get the manager over to do it and it was a refund on my credit card (actually paypal). Then she was gonna ring up the surface pro, and i said, **** that, i'm not shopping here with that inane return time limit window.

went home and bought it on amazon.

This is the first time it's happened to me when customizing a keyboard: I can't settle on the right switches for my LightSaver.  I've already tried stock Clears and Browns--with keycaps on and fake typing tests, and while I do like and have Blues, I shouldn't use them in my quiet bedroom. Not a fan of any Clears variations other than lubed stock.  PCB-mounted Clears on my WEY feel incredible, and the best out of 4 boards with Clears I've used so far.  After it, any other Clears feel inferior, especially in a super dampened heavy metal case with a rigid plate.  I'm having a terrible time deciding which switches to use.  And my 62g Blacks that would be a good option are mounted on a PCB that's currently held by someone else for unsure how long still.  MX Whites with 62g springs could be interesting, but 'spensive =/

Would love to finally solder everything together and actually use the keyboard...

Lubed PCB Mount Clears are really something else....definitely in my top 3 that I've tried

Some people feel as if an aluminum plate is too rigid and tough on the switches...and thus prefer acrylic.

What I would do if i were you is get some pcb clears or blacks and lube them up :P

Sorry, but SpamRay, isn't that THE PATRIOTIC AMERICAN WAY?
You know, guns, football, baseball, pot, mindless consumerism = the way of Liberty and Freedom

Most geeks here aren't patriotic Americans by the Bush-Cheney definition, because they don't sound stupid, they have engineering skills, they're too well informed and all that kinda stuff.  :thumb:

Microsoft have no idea.

I just threw together a quick app to update the status of something in a database.

The IDE could not run it because "the requested operation requires escalation".

Running it outside the IDE prompted for administrative permission to run (via user access control).

Why?  Because the filename contains the word "update".

I renamed it to "udpate" instead, and it runs fine without prompting.

Why, Microsoft?  Why??

They do some annoying ****. I'm getting irked with W8 lately, damn thing seems like it needs half the programs 'run as administrator' in order for them to function properly. Pretty annoying when then only user account on the machine is an administrator by default!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

For backwards compatibility Windows tries to execute some files with admin rights when their filenames contain certain keywords, for example "setup". The issue here is that if it wouldn't do that, setup files from the pre-Vista era would not get executed with admin rights (which they obviously need) by default, making the average user confused why some program just can't get installed. It's kind of a dirty fix for that problem...

So much in Microsoft operating systems seems to be dirty fixes for things that were broken in the past.

Most of it is for backwards compabilty for companies (and private users) that use old software, you should blame them as well.

Backwards compatibility is stupid, but also often necessary.

I cannot stand it when people bring their kids to work.  Yea, I realize that kids are cute, but I do not want your little munchkin running around and inciting "ahs!" from half the office staff.  Maybe I'm just a miserable person, but leave the kids are day care.  It's like show and tell, with real people.

Step 1.  Set Razer keyboard on fire.
Step 2.  Buy a proper keyboard.
