Help me find my Cherry brown keyboard?
« on: Thu, 09 January 2014, 08:49:28 »
I need some selection help!  I'm looking for a keyboard with these specifications, in order of preference.  Not sure if all can be hit.

TKL design.  Separate arrow keys, so a 86 or 87 key
Cherry Brown switches
PBT caps
USB and PS/2 compatibility (or at least PS/2 passthru capability)
White or white/gray
Factory installed red o-rings under caps

Basically the closest thing to available to the white Realforce 87U, but in a mechanical switch design.

Does such an animal exist?  I'm guessing the "white" part is the hardest.  All keyboards seem black these days.

Leopold FC700R from Hendyzone in the Classifieds fits everything except for the PS/2 requirement and pre-installed o-rings. Just FYI, I think only the G710+ from Logitech has pre-installed o-rings.

That board looks perfect!  Thanks.

Now if somebody just made a 50g uniform board without a click, I'd be in heaven.

Could always buy a MX Red/Black board then swap the springs to something close to 50g

That sounds perfect.  I need to read up on that. Is there a perfect 50g spring I can use?

Originative 67g springs may do the job. They are between MX light and MX heavy, but closer to the light springs. Imagine a line above the 62g one, with a similar slope:
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

On the other hand, you may also like stock or Ergo Clears. Tactile like browns, but a bigger bump and stronger spring.

Don't need a bigger bump, just a stronger spring.  I'd prefer linear (for games) but don't mind the small bump of the browns.

Nothing is "perfect". There will always be a tolerance band in parts. I believe originativeco.com is carrying 45g and 55g springs. Think sprit had 50g springs?
