Hello everyone,

New to posting on the forums but have spent a good amount of time reading posts and reviews and I have become quite an enthusiast on mechanical keyboards.

I just received a Noppoo Choc Mini with mx black switches and I am enjoying typing on this keyboard quite a bit. I have previously owned a RazerBlackwidow BLUE (hated it) and a Corsair K70 RED (did not enjoy typing on the corsair, keycaps seemed bleh).

I am looking to buy a second mini or tenkeyless keyboard with red or brown switches and I have seen the Keycool come up in many conversations. Does anyone know anything about the Keycool II? I just saw it pop up on amazon and do not see any discussion on it on this forum. Any other suggestions in that price range for red or brown switches?

Yeah. From the sounds of that it might be something like a ducky's changeable LED patterns? It doesn't carry on and explain, but you can always message them and see what's up.

If they aren't any different to previous versions, I still recommend getting one. They are sturdy, well made boards.

I wouldn't buy a keyboard that has back-lights, they tend to diminish the look and the quality of the printing in my opinion.

Do you have any suggestions? Also, I do love the functionality on my choco to have the cap and ctrl key switched. Any other boards that have this functionality ?

There's this, with reds and this one, with browns.

From what I've gathered, the Keycool models are non-backlit, and the Keycool II models are backlit.

I could be missing something though, I'm a n00b here and very well may not have any clue what I'm talking about, lol.

You should just be able to use a program like "KeyTweak" to reprogram keys

Keycool II backlit is upgraded version of keycool backlit I ,which has below changes:
1. backlight color options: add new colors of purple and pink. No red backlit now.
2. improved backlight partioning functionality.
3. also increase shining of the breathing lights.
4.add memorising function to record the backlight setups before sudden switch off.
5. DIY availability by modifications with different voltage and different colors LED lights.
6. Double IC chips inside for ebhanced operation.
7.Improved caps manufacturing for better touch sense and durability.

That is basically the translation of the Chinese version product spec sheet.

I just got a keycool 84 from qtan from ebay. (http://stores.ebay.com/E-sports-Gaming-equipments) Came quick and had was brand new. Many people use him to order boards and other keyboard accessories.

I think he has a white non back-lite and a kinda grey/black non back-lite one.

It depends what you're looking for really mate, if you're looking for a 84 key, then you've got two main options in my opinion.

The Keycool 84 or The Noppoo Choc Mini, now you can find the Noppoo on Amazon and the Keycool on Qtans store or on mechanicalkeyboards, all links below, I hope this helps.

Just a few little sidenotes;

- The keycool feels like an overall more sturdy product
- The noppoo is better to type on and has more conforming keys, but doesn't have a standard size space bar and because of this, it's almost impossible to find a replacement unless you build your own.

Can anyone explain to me the technical differences between Keycool 84 I and keycool 84 II? I am interested if the firmware override has changed or if somekind of software is assosiated with the upgraded version.

Seriously, get rid of it. I can't type on it regularly and have a numpad on the side for dedicated number input with numlock on. And who really uses that function? Its staggered all weird and is almost impossible to use quickly. If a KC84 III is ever made, please tell the engineers to remove that function or have some kind of dip switch to disable it.
