Dear Manufacturers of HHKB: Make a bluetooth version.

That is all.  Then it would be the perfect travel keyboard.  Could even use it with those giant phones known as tablets!

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You had me excited for a moment, but then I realized you'd need to power the keyboard, too. Would make an awesome idea for a replacement case, though!

Hasu is busy with this but it's a while off, I would imagine the power issue is quite a big problem.

Apart from power comes issues with encryption (or lacking part thereof). Then there's the need to address issues whilst using bluetooth such as when keyboard is running low on power, keyboard is charging and keyboard is fully charged.

Bluetooth mod isn't exactly easy as it may seem.

Bluetooth has long latency times, high power requirements and tends to get into sleep mode easily within short waiting times. A usb cable bothers you that much?

Of course. However, wireless makes sense for things that need to be moved when in use, most of the time, maybe a mouse. But a keyboard is in a fixed position when it is in use. I am not trying to convert you out of your preference. I just pointed a simple fact. I may think no cables makes a keyboard looks nicer, but besides that I do not see a reason to pollute the environment with more wasted batteries, or your personal space with some extra hertz of EMR.

Filco minila has a very (very) low latency and battery life is still 50% after 2 months. I can live with that :)

Sounds like it would be an interesting mod though. I imagine it doesn't take too much space once you take the adapter out of the case.

I'd say the perfect travel keyboard would be a 40%. Much more portable than a 60%, albeit by one row.

that's the same problem I had with all those DIY BT modules. Don't know why. Apple, Filco, Logitech BT keyboards seem to last forever.
