AUS: IBM SSK x 2 (Blue & Grey Logo) (NEW PICS)
« on: Mon, 27 January 2014, 04:44:11 »
THESE WILL BE GOING TO EBAY IN 24HRS @ 0400 GMT  02/02/2014

Been pretty unwell the last few weeks so unfortunately I need to clear out some of my boards to pay the bills. Both boards have been completely tested and passed without issue, they both have some broken rivets but that's not uncommon on old IBM boards and there are enough remaining rivets to still maintain a pleasant click on each key. Both cases are in very clean condition with no signs of cracking or yellowing, there are some minor scratches on the bottom but nothing out of the ordinary or too concerning. Both will come with a PS2 cable as well obviously.

$50USD shipping for US/UK/CA

SSK #1 - $250 USD (SOLD)
Beige Logo
PN: 1392934
DOB: 08-27-90

SSK #2 - $200 USD (SOLD)
Blue Logo (Lexmark Sticker)
PN: 1395100
Note: Lexmark didn't put a DOB on their sticker but I know these are from the 90's as that's when IBM switched to blue logos.

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Sorry to hear that bueller, I hope everything turns round for you.  Great items, I'm sure the hardcore SSK fanatic would be all over these in a heartbeat.  The prices are definitely cheaper here than on Ebay.

Good luck buddy  :thumb: .

Buy up, folks.

When somebody puts an item up for a very fair price, at or below market value, it is because they want it to turn over quickly.

fohat, why don't you buy it? If I recall right, you don't have an SSK.

Me, I'm trying to stay out of the buying. My New Year's resolution. If this resolution can last till the end of the year, I will be one happy (and substantially richer) man.

But don't forget being frugal all your life just means one of your relatives will be enjoying your money when you're dead.  It would of been more prudent to enjoy your money because you worked hard for it.

Don't ever leave it for someone else to enjoy.......

And I rail on every TKL thread about how my numpad is one of the most heavily-used areas of my keyboard.

If Unicomp starts selling them in the $100 range with native USB, I may eventually pick one up.

don't you know that the SSK comes with native embedded numpad? It's one of the best features of ssk simply not duplicated in most modern TKL keyboards!

don't you know that the SSK comes with native embedded numpad?

When you (I) work in a spreadsheet, I am using numbers, letters, arrows, Delete, and Page Up/Down almost constantly and nearly simultaneously.

Having to constantly toggle between modes to re-purpose keys would be so impossibly cumbersome that I would burn the keyboard and get a rubber dome.

That said, when and if I ever retire and stop working with numbers every day, I will probably get a smaller keyboard, but not until.

You've mentioned something that I find very relevant.

My F XT comes with numpad of course, which I use all the time.

But I still find myself naturally gravitating to my M122 when there is 'serious work'.

The reason being that M122, like F122, has lots of keys. The more keys, the more we can do with the keyboard without having to press a combo, toggle another layer, etc. I suppose that's one big reason why I also don't use TKLs. The embedded numpad eg of Noppoo Choc Mini is very sufficient for occasional calculations, but yeah it doesn't make sense if you have serious work.

These still available?  Any chance you could take some pictures of the backplate so I can get a good idea of the rivet condition?

I am most interested in bolt modding these if they are starting to have some rivets coming loose, but I imagine from their age and condition, they still have a few more years until a bolt mod is needed.

Considering what you southern boys have to pay for shipping from the US, I'm surprised these aren't gone yet.

Bueller hate mentioning this buddy but maybe you'll need to hit Ebay because there are too many bludgers here wanting to pick up your SSKs for nothing whilst some fortunate sellers are getting $400+ each, for some really disgusting looking models.

Get smart and go with the flow, otherwise the shorthairs here will prowl around your classifieds for another few weeks hoping you'll sell your SSK for $100 or less (they will pm you to death, telling you their hard luck stories - all false and fake).  Don't get desperate as a seller here on Geekhack because it's not worth it.  You have something that 99% of Ebayers desperately want hence why not fill their demand ?

Please re-consider selling them on Ebay if you are looking for serious money to pay your bills, because you won't get it here.  Normally I don't get involved in other people's sales but you are my fellow countryman and hate seeing someone being given the shaft.  If I hated your guts I would just sit back and crack a tinnie and enjoy the suffering you shall endure trying to sell these babies here.  Sometimes you just have to say the truth, I never take advantage of someone who has troubles and that's what most will do here, when it means they can pick up a couple of SSKs for nothing and then they will re-sell your babies for more profit on Ebay themselves.  Why allow that to happen?

I am afraid I have to agree. And it is not just in the land of Oz.

For whatever reasons, there are a few things such as skull-shaped keycaps that Geekhackers are ga-ga for, but for most other things they are monumental cheapskates. And I think that the few with deep pockets who were desperate for SSKs seem to have bought them in recent weeks.

Put these on ebay at Fixed Price and I predict that you will sell them, at your asking price, in less than 24 hours.

Updated with some new pictures of the internals for rivet loss. The Beige logo has a bit of corrosion but no rust and has plenty of rivets remaining. The Lexmark has a tiny bit of surface rust and is more of a candidate for bolt modding.

Also updated shipping prices.
