CM QuickFire Rapid replacing keycaps

I just got the CM QF Rapid and replaced the WASD keycaps with the red ones that came with the kb.  I did have a little issue and I'm wondering if this is normal or not.  The four red caps seemed to be a little tight when I was putting them on.  The booklet that came with the keyboard said to not force the caps on.  But it did require some pressure in order for them to go down all the way.  I tried different angles to see if it would go on any easier but it did not.  Another thing is when I compared the + from the black ones that were already on to the red that came in the little baggy it appeared the red ones were a little smaller.  Did I just ruin my keyboard?

you shouldn't be exerting very much effort to put a cap on.  personally, I can just firmly place a finger on the cap and just lean forward in my chair and it goes on pretty well as long as I maintain a 'downward' direction.  If anything, you were just SLIGHTLY off in your angling.

probably no big deal, just be careful when you're pulling them off. (lots of wiggling side to side)

EDIT:

now that I think about it...you have the ring puller right (an 'o' with two little straight hooks coming out)?  may or may not be abel to wiggle with those.

Yes it came with the ring puller.

Would you recommend me taking the caps back off and trying to get them to go on as smooth as possible without exerting much force?

I've had loose keycaps and tight keycaps.

Due to plastic variations and environmental considerations when keycaps are made, there is some slight variation between the different sets, and sometimes even between keycaps in the same set.

Tight keycaps does not indicate anything wrong, unless they really are so tight that they won't go on.

It might be better to invest in a wire keycap puller - techkeys.us sells a nice one

The plastic ring keycaps puller can scratch the sides of the keycaps if you are not careful.  It also does not grip the keycaps as well, and you could end up inadvertently pulling a keycap to one side as you lift it, and snapping the stem in the switch, which would be very bad.

Just be careful when you do remove the keycaps, and gently wiggle them from side to side, or arounds in a tiny circle as I do, when you remove them.

Your keyboard is fine. Different key caps may need different force required to push them on to the stem. Is good to push down hard enough to distinctively feel that the cap is definitely pushed down all the way.  When using the plastic key cap pullers if you put your index finger through the ring just squeeze the two pieces of plastic together tighter with your thumb and middle finger to grip the cap tighter.
