Topre spacebar springs
« on: Tue, 28 January 2014, 13:41:30 »
I'm pretty inexperienced at spring shopping...

Anyone know what I should be searching for if I want to find a substitute for these springs they stick under Topre spacebars? I'd be looking for 5-10g, must be same diameter to fit over the topre plunger, would be interested in about 60 of them.

Here's to shots in the dark!

There was a similar thread recently I believe someone had taken some springs from an older board and modified them.

That would be me. I've got a good system down for these replacement springs. Shoot me a PM and I'll get you some replacements.

Unless the idea above involves hand-making a replacement spring, or disassembling a Topre keyboard, I don't think I've seen replacement springs for sale anywhere.

And anything Topre seems to be getting harder to get these days.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I have also been looking for these springs (the ones used under the spacebar on the HHKB Pro 2). Per your suggestion, I've also sent you a PM. Thanks.
