[Solved] Stripped screw in my Pure Pro
« on: Tue, 28 January 2014, 16:17:45 »
I recently got my a 60% aluminium case and I was planning to put it on my Pure Pro.
However I somehow managed to strip one of the screws to the point where the little Phillips hole turned into a circle. (don't ask me how I got it this bad)
Here is a link to an image I found to show you how much clearance I would have.

Do you have any ideas for how to fix this?

Update: I fixed this by maybe possibly tearing the side of my case open to get at the screw since it was on the very side.... A bit brutal but hey it worked!

Slotting would seem to be the simplest method. Do have any suggestions on how I could do this?

Since I felt I wasn't getting anywhere I had to go to some 'drastic' measures and tore up my case.
Yeah you heard me... Since the stripped screw was on the very side of the case, I decided to tear the side of the case and unscrew it from the side with pliers as there was more clearance.
The process turned out great and I have now installed my aluminium case.
I might plan on sawing off all of the sides of my keyboard to make a super low profile case later.

a rubber band between the screw and screwdriver would have done the job
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

I already tried the rubber band and I believed that I mentioned in the op that the area in the head was essentially a circle. There was basically nothing to grip onto anyway.
I also tried the rubber band method a couple of times before anyway.

Super-glue usually works for small screws...

Hey man, ripping open the side of your case is the manly way to go. Let's just hope this doesn't happen now that I have an aluminium case  :))
(also thanks for the advice, I will use that next time)
