EneBRICK HHKB Edition - HHKB Bluetooth Connectivity
« on: Fri, 28 March 2014, 02:00:32 »
Link to the product here: http://www.pfu.fujitsu.com/direct/hhkb/detail_enebrick.html

It seems to act as a device that allows your HHKB to have Bluetooth connectivity, as well as act as a smartphone/tablet stand/charger. The price is around $130, so rather steep, although I don't know of any other solutions for a Bluetooth HHKB.

Looks pretty cool, its from PFU (HHKB manufacturer) too so it should be fairly decent quality. The price is definitely stee, I'm guessing it has a much larger battery than competing devices though as it seems to be a fair bit larger than the ones I've seen.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Yes it seems the battery is a big part of it, it will charge devices. Looks great but they don't mention it working with a PC/Mac via bluetooth although I am guessing it would. That price plus shipping and customs though is just too epic.

I don't like that I still need to connect to the brick via a cable because if I still need a cable, I might as well connect directly to the PC or the monitor (nowadays, monitors have USB hubs). Of course I can't think of a better design - perhaps something flat in which I can put the HHKB on top of, or perhaps it acts as a wrist rest but is actually the battery.. that, at least, is more practical than this brick.

Something like a flat slicebattery for a laptop would be interesting, if the HHKB case had a slot in the bottom allowing for it to 'dock' then that would bypass having any cables and add some weight!

HHKB Introduces EneBRICK

Looks like Fujitsu's answer to making the HHKB a bluetooth keyboard is to add a battery brick to it. They call it the EneBRICK.

I suppose it could be used with any keyboard, but it feels a bit like going around your elbow to get to your butt doesn't it?

Interesting, but couldn't you just plug a camera to usb adaptor for ipads rather than plugging it into a power bank?

It's still adding bulk for a "wireless" keyboard.  :-X
