I need help to find a keyboard like this for a present
« on: Sun, 13 April 2014, 18:14:56 »
Hi,

I am looking for a TKL with brown switches with white and purple keycaps similar to this: http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=809

I would prefer a white case (backlit or not), and I would not want to spend more than $150.

Any ideas? The best option I have seen so far is to buy a WASD and just choose the keycaps colors I want.

Thank you!

taobao may have the keyset, but WASD wont be backlit and the keycap quality is **** there
Id say buy the ducky at mk and paint the case yourself

Guise,

There has to be a better solution that a back-lit Ducky Shine.  I'm not an expert on MX anymore, so you gotta pick up the slack.

Welcome to Geekhack!

The keyboard you linked is apparently a custom board.

Given that mk.com have produced one custom, maybe they can produce another.

Have you tried contacting them?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Filco and Keycool both make TKL boards with white cases. Maybe mechanicalkeyboards could put it together for you, since they should be able to get the keycaps easiest.

Finding a purple and white set like that yourself will not be easy and may end up costing a fair amount.

If they won't, there is a Group Buy for pink and white caps at the moment, perhaps you could pick up a cancelled order: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=49198.0

Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

That is a lovely board.  I think I'm gonna have to see what else those little ****ens at MK have hiding...  Good luck finding the one you want.  Please let us know if MK will do a custom for you.

I just discovered this: http://deskthority.net/marketplace-f11/interest-check-for-gmk-doubleshots-t4553.html

An old group buy started by Ivan. If mechanicalkeyboards don't come through for you, perhaps you could find a way to make the set of keycaps happen still.
