A number of people have been asking about driver sets in the premium hand tools thread. I've confirmed with Wiha that I can't get better pricing than this sale price, so my best suggestion is to order the set directly from amazon if you have prime, or from wiha if you don't! ps, incredible price.

amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Wiha-26190-Phillips-Screwdriver-Professional/dp/B00018AO0W/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1397662830&sr=1-1&keywords=Wiha

wiha link: http://www.wihatools.com/special_06.htm

these are basically all the drivers you need for electronics work. they are extremely high quality, with excellent blade fitment into the screw sizes they correspond to. these are my primary small drivers, and will continue to be as i go through them (remember, driver blades are consumables!)

Will these have to be magnetized?

Let me rephrase that, will I have to magnetize these if I would need them to be or do they come like that already? I haven't seen anything that says magnetic in the description.

Beast, you should make wooden blocks to hold these drivers like in the Amazon link.

Would be easy enough. Maybe drill a recess to add some weights to it.

Its a great deal with the needle nose pliers.

Otherwise without the pliers, I recommend this proturn system 4 set for maximum portability:
http://www.amazon.com/Wiha-62990-Proturn-Phillips-Screwdriver/dp/B0006OBFHM/
I have a set of these in my laptop bag, got it for a steal at $8 bucks shipped on ebay long while ago.

They've been very durable and I haven't stripped any screws unless I'm using the wrong size screwdriver for the job.

with the pouch it's kind of a wash. the pouches are cheap on ebay but only if you buy like 3-4 at a time

The wiha link says it's 58% savings so mkawa probably just averaged the savings and then rounded to the nearest 21% that wasn't 42%.

But you can get them on amazon anytime for $26. So it's only a 19% savings from amazon.

Directly from Wiha, yes, it's a 58% discount, but kawa linked amazing....

change title pls :D

Too bad I already own a set or I'd buy!

I've worked on at least 4000 laptops and I really like my wiha set. Worth every penny and will last a while. Other cheap sets may have a lifetime warranty, but it's not worth it to replace worn out and broken bits and driver handles every 6 months.

yah, i think that 26.95 number is just some bizarre bad data. if you look at the 3rd party seller's website, the actual msrp price is listed, and the distributor special price is the one that is active. this package is usually about 45-50

Have been using Wiha screwdrivers for the last 7+ years?. Its my daily driver set and gets used for everything. Not the absolute best set you can have, but for the price, it really hits the value/performance ratio. Have not used the plier yet, but appears to be of decent quality. Hinge feels good, and finish is nice and smooth. Time will tell though, but for now, feels good. Handle shape is a bit akward though. Doesnt quite fit well in my medium hands.

Highly recommended overall. I guess I didn't know what I stumbled on, but I recently ordered that exact set, arrived a few weeks ago. Was $17 from tower hobbies, but now I see that its $28. Shipping also went up for my australian address. Haven't used it yet, as my current First set from 5 years ago is still going. Only had to replace the PH1 once, and almost on my third, and not because they stop working, but because there was a slight rounding, and I have 2 spares already.

Are Wihas worth it?
yes absolutely. A great deal at even full price.

We had been using those screwdriver sets with lifetime warranty you get from sears / home depot. Every 6 months or so, we'd have to have a trip down there and get everyone's replaced because they wore out so fast. The Wiha are much longer lasting. One Technician has a proturn set that he's been using for the last 3 years or so and while there's a little wear it's still fine.

Just want to echo what Okwchin says: these are great.

That said, I do keep a cheap chinese screwdriver set around for light screwdriver work. As long as it's not used much, it'll be fine. But when you're taking apart hundreds or thousands of devices every year, having proper tools really pays off and saves money. They are nice to have as well.

I prefer Wiha to Wera, as they fit my hand better, but both are pretty good. There are other brands, of course, but they don't have sales.
