IBM 3270 drivers for Windows 7?
« on: Thu, 01 May 2014, 17:18:14 »
Anyone had any luck finding or developing drivers for this? Apparently the 122 key Emulator Model M is capable of sending unique scancodes, but requires OS driver support to do so.

Cheers

The IBM 3270 is a beam spring model. You will have to replace the controller to get it to work on USB.

It's actually quite distant from the 122-key keyboards for the 3180 and 3179.

As you can see if you want to read this other thread of mine, it's like getting blood out of a stone getting a plain English answer about these keyboards. It's almost as though Unicomp and the elitist M club don't want non-geeks having functional 122 boards... :/

the elitist M club don't want non-geeks having functional 122 boards.

Old M-122s are plentiful and cheap. With the right plugs, they have always worked for me with Soarer's Teensy without any drama. Plus, your re-mapping can be programmed into the Teensy itself.

If you weren't in OZ I would sell you a naked M-122 without the top case for pretty cheap. I think it has a "RJ-45" (loosely speaking) connector but making an adapter is not too hard, or it could be hard-wired.
