Cut PCB mount stabs to work with Phantom?
« on: Tue, 06 May 2014, 15:53:11 »
Would it be possible to cut off the inserts on PCB mounted cherry stabs then glue them to the PCB of a phantom? Orr is it just not sturdy enough?

You'd be better off making holes in the PCB for the stabilisers. Cherry plate mount stabilisers feel pretty much identical once they're clipped.

Hmm okay. I've read that clipping plate mount cherry stabs doesn't actually do anything. Looks like it actually does.

It does the exact same thing as clipping PCB mount stabilisers. The stem on plate mount stabilisers hits the PCB, just like the stem on PCB mount stabilisers.

Besides the spacebar do you really need stabilizers bad enough to attempt gluing them to the PCB?

Not really. And it's too bad that drilling holes for the spacebar stab in the Phantom PCB is a no-go. There are traces that run through there.

Could they not be bridged?

tried clipping the stabs on my new(ish) deck legend, and I see now that plate mount cherry stabs are affected by clipping the same way pcb is.

Thanks for the help! Going to go with plate mount for next build
