do I have to worry if I didn't get my set yet? :(

Did you order stabilizers?  According to this Ivan is still waiting to get the stabs from GMK.

I received my set over the weekend and just got around to opening it.  I was shocked to find out I'm missing ~5 keys to my set.  Will contact Ivan.

Yes, Silver is Lightsaber v2. and HOME is Delete...because Ivan's DOLCH have no suitable keys. PgUp is LED control, Pause is FN key.

Ivan, just found your postal box (which was dropped off a month ago), the Mrs shoved it under my work bench in the garage instead of leaving it in the hallway outside, near the kitchen area (normal place of package deposits).

Have just opened it up and the absolute beauty of these is simply beyond words that I can express in my lifetime.  They (GMK) have done brilliant work with these and it goes to show that if you actually love the original Cherry Key-sets these are next to perfection, especially when considering they are made now in Germany instead of 20 years back in time.

My new love is for these, but then again I'm such a key-cap wh0re always finding new keys to hold dear to my heart but anything made by GMK is something really special.

Thank you Ivan for running this Group Buy and delivering these wonders to my home, love you heaps  :-* .

I am, however, missing an F5 key.  Also PM'd just in case.
No rush though, as the Joker key fits nicely in that spot.

hey ivan, just a comment for next time
try not using packing tape to secure the spacebars.

I'm having to use googone to get the packing tape residue off the spacebar bottoms and sides.
I'm worried it may damage the plastic =/

Dolchs arrived earlier December 5th, but I was in Vietnam so I only got to get to the post office to claim the package a couple days ago.
I don't have any spare stabilizers to go with these, and the Filco stabilizers are a little loose when attached, so I just stuck a small piece of tape first then inserted the stabilizers in and they fit great. Spacebar has the slightest give but it's not something I can notice in regular use anyway.

Just magnificent.

$170 USD all-in for the base set + color pack kinda hurt, but it hurts so good. Glad I joined the GB. Thanks again for making this all possible Ivan!

I've waited a bit over three years to get my hands on a Dolch set and it was definitely worth the wait.

Only issue is I'm unfortunately missing a num-row "1 !" key in one of my sets :(

I think that's a modded FC660C with domes from a Novatouch.

The stock one definitely doesn't support MX caps.

Can that modification be implemented on a HHKB Pro? Are Novatouch domes available as spare parts?

Yes it can be done on a HHKB. Domes are not available separately, so you would have to buy a Novatouch and harvest them.

This is correct. I purchased the Novatouch and swapped the sliders. Hopefully one day they will sell just the sliders.

Does that mean that Novatouch's sliders allow the use of MX caps on Topres? Even space bars? I know space bars may require additional "adapters" for the stabilizers stems. But it may be feasible to develop adapters that allow to use MX PBT spacebars on Topre keyboards? Is it a dumb question?

Yup the Novatouch's sliders let you use MX caps on Topres. The only issue is with the spacebar just like you said. One day I plan to modify an MX spacebar but haven't had the time. It would be awesome if there was an adapter.

Hey, just wanted to check whether caps with small scratches can be replaced! It's not particularly important to me, but if there were extras prepared to take care of that it'd be awesome. Not a big deal either way though.

Perhaps, but cosmetic issues will be the last priority as I have some packing errors missing key I need to resolve first. PM me list of caps you have issues with and I will let you know if it's possible at a later time.

« Reply #2143 on: Fri, 02 January 2015, 08:11:54 »
ok having just capped up my board, i have a few things to say about the set

i guess i should start by saying this is a positive statement, but i have to start by voicing a few negative thoughts i had going in

so i didnt pay a lot of attention to this buy, i just glanced at it and ordered, perhaps thinking in the back of my head i wish the mods were both text and symbols, but that being a personal aesthetic choice, it isnt a negative, just not what i would have preferred

that being said, i never took the time to actually look at the keys in this buy, or any discussion about them

so on receipt of them today, i decided to give my dyesubs a rest and pop em on my 356 mini, the first thing i noticed is on a 60% format, the symbol only look came out nicer than i expected, and i guess in a world where we have OG dolch and former gmk dolch buys, its nice that ivan decided to buck against the trend and do this, i still prefer both text and symbols for future stuff, but i think for this set it was a good choice.  my one and only negative i would still say about this choice, is that i wish it transferred over to the colour pack as well, so that my nice cyan enter key matched the rest of the mods, i guess the reasoning behind this was so that the colour pack would work with pre existing sets, but as i purchased it with this set i would have liked the theme to be consistent throughout

now on to what really made me actually write this post, upon capping up this set, i realised what a fantastic implementation there was for the iso keys with standard legends, i literally cant sing the praises of this choice enough, and it feels almost custom made for my usage scenario, i am an ansi user, i use an ansi layout on my boards however i live in the UK, the trouble with this, is even when setting my keyboard settings in windows to ansi US, some site and apps do some strange things, where they will force certain keys to be iso even on an ansi layout, this is rare but frustrating when it happens, " and @ are often switched

i guess im not good at getting my point across but the short of it is, those few keys showed a ton of thought, and for myself or uk guys in particular, i think they are just great, not only is it cost effective and saves on making a bunch more keys that very few people will use, i actually think within our community this solution is more useful and elegant, aesthetically to me they are very pleasing

that one little thought for me turned this from a set i ordered simply to support gmk buys on gh, to one i actually really like and wont just sit in a bag in my cupboard, the only thing i would change would be the colour packs mod legends to be uniform to the set, but that is a very minor gripe, on an otherwise outstanding set

Photos, Bunny!

But yeah I really like how all the keys just work together aesthetically on a 60%, but it never occurs to me that it is due to the symbols in the mod keys. Good observations.

Well said Bunny, as another UK ANSI user I totally agree! Really awesome  :thumb: I'd love to see more sets implement this in the future. Also agree about the colour pack, but not a big bother. Really beautiful set in all, love seeing everyone's shots of them. Look forward to seeing more on your 356 mini too!
