I talk about keyboards a lot, even in real life. Occasionally, I can convince someone to check them out and perhaps buy one. Over the weekend, I recommended a friend a Filco Majestouch 2. My usual recommendation talk goes like this:
1) Do you want the number pad or not?
2) What's their budget?
3) If they want the numberpad, do they want backlighting?
4) If no backlighting, I recommend a Filco. If yes to backlighting, I recommend Ducky.
5) If they don't need a number pad, I recommend a Filco TKL, QFR, Ducky Shine keyboard, or Poker 2. The recommendation depends on how minimal they're willing to be. I've actually managed to recommend someone a Poker 2 as their first mech board. They're not an enthusiast or anything, just a gamer who now has happy fingers

What are you recommending others for their first mechanical keyboards? Is this consistent with what others are recommending? I wonder if I'm missing out on other brands. Should I be recommending more CM stuff or something else? What do ya'll think and why? Help me refine my sales pitch and spread the word.
